Sports fans rejoice! The beloved 1989 Baseball film Field of Dreams is coming back in a big way. I’m not talking about the film’s recent addition to NBC’s streaming service Peacock either. Field of Dreams is making a comeback, but this time to your home television rather than in theaters.
The series is based on Universal’s Oscar-nominated 1989 sports fantasy film written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson based on W. P. Kinsella’s 1982 novel Shoeless Joe. It starred Kevin Costner as a farmer who builds a baseball field in his cornfield that attracts the ghosts of baseball legends. The series will reimagine the mixture of family, baseball, Iowa and magic that makes the movie so enduring and beloved.
Preparation for filming will start at the end of April and will continue through the end of the year. Filming will be done primarily in Los Angeles, CA with about two months spent filming in Iowa during the Summer.
“Field of Dreams” Cast and Crew
The Field of Dreams series is still in active development so not much is yet known about the cast and crew. Lawrence Gordon will be one of the series’ producers. He will surely bring continuity to the project as his past work includes the documentary films Field of Dreams: Passing Along the Pastime and If You Build It: 30 Years of Field of Dreams.
David Miner is the second producer heading up the series. He was responsible for pitching the series to NBC and is known for producing shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Q-Force. He worked with writer and producer Michael Schur on both of the aforementioned projects. Finally Morgan Sackett will be serving as Line Producer (LP). She is known for her work on Veep, Parks and Recreation and Seinfeld.
