Voltron Gets High-Budget Film Adaption From Amazon Prime Video

Amazon is developing a new live-action Voltron movie for its streaming service Prime Video. Voltron is based on the Japanese sci-fi series Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV. The premise is centered on five young pilots in a battalion named the Robot Lions, which are vehicles that join together to form a mega robot known as Voltron.

“Voltron” Cast and Crew

The film has been a long-time coming as it was originally conceptualized way back in 2005. It’s been delayed for so long that some of those who were pushing for the original films development have now passed on—including the late Ted Koplar who at one time held the Voltron film rights. As fate would have it, Ted’s son Bob Koplar is one of three producers already announced for the new production.

Also producing will be Mandeville Films and Television partners and co-owners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman who have worked on numerous projects together to include the Mark Wahlberg film The Fighter (2010). Rawson Marshall Thurber will be directing and writing the film. He his most known for his previous work on Red Notice (2021) and Easy A (2010).
