Live-Action Amazon Series Blade Runner 2099 in Development

Details are just starting to be revealed about “Blade Runner 2099”, an upcoming live-action series by Amazon. The new show will take place half a century in the future following the events of the 2017 film “Blade Runner 2049”.

“Blade Runner 2099” Cast and Crew

The series will be produced by Ridley Scott, the Director and Co-Producer of the original “Blade Runner” film in 1982. That film was based on Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, but it was Blade Runner that inspired the Cyberpunk genre.

Cyberpunk is having a moment right now and it’s thanks to Blade Runner that we have games like Cyberpunk 2077 and cyberpunk themes popping up in popular franchises like Star Wars.

Producers for “Blade Runner 2099” include: Ridley Scott – Andrew Kosove – Broderick Johnson – Michael Green – Ben Roberts – Cynthia Yorkin – David W. Zucker – Clayton Krueger – Tom Spezialy – Frank Giustra – Isa Dick Hackett

Writer/Producer: Silka Luisa

Silka Luisa is a writer and producer. According to Film Independent, Luisa grew up in Miami with a superstitious Dominican mother. Her upbringing was filled with strong women and perhaps a few too many psychics. Her writing reflects both of those influences. She’s a woman who won’t take “no” for an answer and maintains the hope that there’s some magic waiting just around every corner or deep within ourselves—something worth searching out even when it seems impossible to find!

She has received many accolades including being given IFP-Marcie Bloom Fellowship, HSF McNamara Grant, and Columbia University’s prestigious Arthur Krim Award. Additionally, her scripts have been placed in numerous screenplay writing competitions including The Academy Nicholl Fellowships.

Her first writing credits were for the 2013 short film “To the Bone” and first worked as a Producer on the 2016 TV movie The Wilding. She has since produced episodes of Strange Angel (2018), Halo (2022), and Shining Girls (2022)
