Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Production Begins Soon

Disney+ is set to begin production on the upcoming film “Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” in February of 2023 in New Mexico. The film, which is based on the beloved children’s book of the same name by Judith Viorst, follows the misadventures of 11-year-old Alexander as he navigates a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, and the chaos that ensues when he wishes for his family to experience the same.

The film will be produced by Shawn Levy, Lisa Henson, Dan Cohen, Dan Levine, and Emily Morris. Levy, best known for his work on the “Night at the Museum” franchise and Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” has a long history of producing successful family films. Henson, CEO of the Jim Henson Company, has a similar track record, with credits including the iconic children’s show “Sesame Street” and the fantasy adventure film “The Dark Crystal.” Cohen, Levine, and Morris, all of whom have extensive experience in film and television production, round out the producing team.

Matt Lopez, known for his work on “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and “Race to Witch Mountain,” will serve as the film’s writer. Marvin Lemus, whose previous directing credits include “Gentefied” and “Las Culturistas,” will serve as the film’s director. Lemus has received critical acclaim for his work, with “Gentefied” being nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.

The film’s cast includes Eva Longoria as Alexander’s mother, Courtney, a travel writer struggling to find her passion, and George Lopez as the family’s grandfather, a tough biker. Both Longoria and Lopez have extensive experience in the family film genre, with Longoria starring in the hit animated film “Coco” and Lopez lending his voice to the role of Rafael in the “Rio” franchise. The film’s casting directors, Chelsea Ellis Bloch and Marisol Roncali, have worked on a variety of successful family films and television shows, including “Moana” and “The Lego Batman Movie.”

21 LAPS Entertainment and the Jim Henson Company will serve as the film’s production studios, with Shelly Strong serving as the production manager. Strong has previously worked on a number of successful family films, including “The Spiderwick Chronicles” and “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep.” Richard E. Chapla Jr. and Brandon Harris will serve as the production coordinator and production coordinator, respectively. Both have extensive experience in the film industry, with credits including “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” and “The Lorax.”
