About Italia Ricci

Italia Ricci is a Canadian-American actress known for her roles in various television series and films. She made her major acting debut in 2007 in the American Pie direct-to-video film, Beta House. She went on to have a recurring role on the Disney XD series Aaron Stone and appeared in minor roles in shows such as How I Met Your Mother, House, and Greek.

From 2014 to 2015, she starred as April Carver in the ABC Family series Chasing Life, and from 2016 to 2019 she played White House Chief of Staff and Special Advisor Emily Rhodes in the television drama series Designated Survivor. Ricci also appeared in films for the Hallmark Channel, including Rome in Love and Love in Winterland. In 2022, she starred in The Imperfects as Dr. Sydney Burke, which premiered on Netflix in September.

Before her acting career, Ricci was a member of the all-female a cappella group, The Whiffenpoofs, at Yale. She began her acting career in theater and appeared in several Off-Broadway productions such as “The Little Foxes” and “A Streetcar Named Desire”. In 2011, she made her television debut in the HBO series, Girls, created by Lena Dunham. She played the role of Marnie Michaels, a close friend of Dunham’s character, Hannah Horvath, for all six seasons of the show, earning critical acclaim for her performance. The show premiered in 2012, and ran for six seasons, ending in 2017.

In addition to her role in Girls, Ricci has also appeared in films such as Get Out, directed by Jordan Peele, and she starred in the 2018 psychological horror film The Perfection. She also played a role in the short film IRL. Ricci is also a trained singer, and has performed on Broadway in productions such as “Once Upon a Mattress” and “Peter Pan Live!”, as well as in various concerts.

Williams is also known for her philanthropic work, particularly with organizations supporting education and women’s rights. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Media Center, an organization that works to amplify women’s voices in the media, and the Lower Eastside Girls Club, which provides education and opportunities for young women in New York City.
