hey this is Brian O'Halerin from the
0:02
Clerks franchise and this is my five
0:05
question interview number one who had
0:09
you laughing the most on the set of The
0:11
View Universe and when was it the
0:13
hardest not to break i got to tell you
0:15
the hardest ever uh to laugh to stop
0:19
laughing was when Wanda Sykes and
0:21
comedian Earthquake were in Clerks 2 up
0:24
at the counter ordering some food when a
0:27
certain derogatory term was used and the
0:30
next 11 minutes of filming was them
0:33
improving the things that they wanted to
0:36
say to which we used only a few minutes
0:39
in the film but I know the extra DVDs
0:42
extras has the full uncut 11 minutes so
0:46
Wanda Sykes and comedian Earthquake get
0:48
that award for me number two how is the
0:53
friendship between you and your old
0:55
castmates from VCU we are like uh old
0:58
camp friends I guess you could say where
1:01
uh during the summer we had an amazing
1:03
camp experience and then every couple of
1:05
years we get to go back to camp and play
1:07
for a couple of weeks and do it again
1:10
always I get to see J Muse quite often
1:12
marilyn Giggliotti I get to see on the
1:14
convention circuit quite often as well
1:16
jeff every once in a while he comes down
1:18
from the mountain and wants to be on the
1:19
road for a little bit and of course
1:21
Kevin I see a lot uh he has three
1:23
different venues on the east coast he
1:25
has his comic book shop of course he has
1:28
his video store and then of course his
1:30
office is all in the New Jersey area so
1:32
I get to see him when he's down in that
1:35
area uh how has Dante changed from
1:38
Clerks to Clerks 3 and how much of you
1:40
is in him now you know I get that
1:43
question a lot and uh in the beginning
1:45
um there was a lot of just like well
1:47
he's a bit whiny and stuff so I can do
1:50
that quite easily i am a real people
1:52
pleaser kind of guy i will bend to to
1:56
please other people's kind of schedules
1:57
and stuff like that in the beginning and
1:59
to be honest with you I'm more in real
2:01
life of a Randall i'm a bit of a
2:03
sarcastic bastard um and people who know
2:05
me know that to be true as far as Clerks
2:08
3 you know going through life and having
2:10
loss in life and having the pain of
2:13
missing people like Dante did of the
2:15
loss of his spoiler alert his wife and
2:18
unborn child in the movie um that kind
2:21
of uh acknowledgement being the age that
2:23
we are now is kind of real we've I've
2:25
lost people over the years and
2:27
connecting to those people and that kind
2:29
of feeling is is not hard to tap into
2:32
let's put it that way next question
2:37
you voice characters in several Pokemon
2:38
projects what drew you to the Pokemon
2:41
franchise and did it hold any special
2:43
appeal for you um I was working with a
2:47
director a voice-over director who was
2:49
producing a lot of the voiceover
2:52
conversions from the original Japanese
2:53
voices to the American voices and uh
2:57
working with him Tom Whand at his studio
3:00
was the uh a fun time now I do not know
3:03
the Pokemon world at all in depth
3:06
whatsoever so when the voices that I did
3:08
do for that show I just wanted to know
3:10
what the situation was at that moment
3:12
for that character i didn't know need to
3:15
know about where Ash was doing i didn't
3:16
need to know what what Pokemon I needed
3:19
to do or anything like that so it was
3:20
that type of thing that uh it drew me to
3:25
it our next question what fan
3:28
interaction that really stuck with you
3:30
over the years oh boy there's a bunch of
3:32
fan interactions that are really crazy
3:34
um and fun i've had to sign certain body
3:38
parts which was kind of weird uh and
3:40
weird in a sense like a nice and then
3:42
there were people who had me sign their
3:43
body and then they go and get it
3:45
tattooed and come and show me the next
3:46
day look they're right here they have a
3:48
image of Cartoon Dante and those are
3:50
kind of things but we also have people
3:52
who are just like "Oh my god your movie
3:54
saved me in a very bad time in my life."
3:57
Which I always find so nice to see that
3:59
our our little you know our little
4:02
comedy can help people get out of it
4:03
we've had military men tell us when they
4:05
were out of country come to us say "Hey
4:07
man when we were in some really hairy
4:09
times out of country and getting back to
4:11
camp and being able to just laugh and
4:13
get out of our heads of what would just
4:14
happened has been very helpful and then
4:16
of course with Clerks 3 it deals with
4:18
some heavy issues especially towards the
4:20
end of the movie people telling me their
4:23
family's uh health issues and uh one
4:26
person actually went to a doctor shortly
4:28
after seeing the film found out that
4:29
they he had a blockage and uh they had
4:32
emergency surgery soon after so his wife
4:35
told me a couple of weeks after that
4:37
that that what that that had happened
4:38
and she started crying in front of me i
4:40
started crying in front of her going
4:41
like "Oh my god." Uh it's so amazing
4:43
that that encouraged him to go get
4:46
himself checked out and somewhat saved
4:50
life so that's the end of my questions
4:52
but you can find me on the internet uh
