Kristen Schaal & Harvey Guillén | What We Do in the Shadows Q&A | Big Texas Comic Con 2025
Nov 13, 2025
Recorded live at Big Texas Comic Con in San Antonio (Oct 17–19, 2025). Kristen Schaal and Harvey Guillén share fan-favorite stories from What We Do in the Shadows—including heartfelt fan encounters, on-set improv that made the final cut, and memorable guest stars. They talk about visiting the Alamo, the energy of the live audience, and the kind of risks that made the show special across six seasons. Kristen touches on Gravity Falls (Mabel) and Bob’s Burgers (Louise), while Harvey reflects on Guillermo’s journey, favorite scenes like the Mosquito Hunters, and props and set pieces the cast saved. You’ll hear shout-outs to Mark Hamill and other guests, a few improv moments fans quote to this day, and thoughts on what a post-series spin-off could look like. Auto-generated captions were lightly cleaned for names and clarity; occasional paraphrasing helps fix machine-transcription hiccups. Filmed by Tales From The Collection.

It's going to be a first in big Texas history. Oh, massage session. Remember when we go see where Christ always
0:21
offers a massage in front of an audience? It calms him down.
0:26
I guess it all started when I was five. Um, and am I next?
0:33
Uh, no. No, I guess not. I guess. All right. Well, first of all, welcome. Welcome to San Antonio. Welcome.
0:40
Good to be here. Fun times in San Antonio so far. Or Oh my gosh.
0:45
All right. What y'all been up to? We had dinner last night. Where'd y'all go? My qual quality daughter.
0:51
Best quality. Best quality daughter. Best quality daughter. Really? Best in the world. That's your family.
0:57
You've heard of it. One, two, three. Go check it out. Oh, they opened during co.
1:02
Um, and the food is exquisite. Asian uh flare.
1:09
And they pay their employees full benefits. Have you met her?
1:15
Yeah. Owner. It's womanowned. Uh, Jen owns it. Uh, we didn't get to
1:20
meet her, but we got a t-shirt. That's not why I'm up here selling it,
1:26
but um the food was genuinely one of the most delicious meals I've ever had.
1:32
She we knew it was really good. Did your first time here, San Antonio for any first time?
1:38
I bought I I was here when I was 12 years old. Really? What brought you here at 12? Um we were traveling with the bodas and
1:44
we went to Six Flags. Um you know, and San Antonio is like a very famous the river walker really
1:52
famous. And I think that we I I'm from Colorado, so it wasn't a road trip.
1:57
It was a road trip, right? I mean, did you go see the Alamo yet or No, I'm already Yeah. As soon as I got off the plane, I jumped up and I went to the
2:04
Alamo. I did not touch the walls. There's a sign. I wanted to touch the wall immediately
2:11
after reading the sign, but you did not did touch the walls. I might have the problem. The animals are on their way.
2:18
I liked it. It was fun. Also, like I felt like it was a lot of the history was like, "Wait a minute, what?" And
2:23
they're like, "So Native Americans live here." And then it became the general's office. I was like, "Where did the Native Americans go?" They're like, "All
2:28
right, moving on." The history, the whole speed of the battle was really fraught with some
2:36
issues. Yeah. And then I was like, "Who's that like young lady statue?" They're like, "Oh, uh, let's move on." I was like,
2:41
"What?" The only female. It was a slave, right? Oh, they would never do a female slave
2:47
statue. That would be very odd. They should. Anyways, but it's I'm so
2:52
glad it's preserved so people can learn about it is there's so I really didn't
2:58
realize how many layers of te I need to catch up on all my schooling, but just
3:03
like Texas Revolution. Texas was its own country before it joined the United
3:09
States. Yeah. I mean, there's so much. And if Santa Ana was a better leader, I'm pretty sure this would be Mexico.
3:16
Probably. Yeah, but what are you? I'm just This is just from listening to the audio thing.
3:23
So, it was like on like slow jazz the whole time. I think I was listening to the tour
3:29
guide. I was like, mine is like slow jazz. Tune this out. Yeah. She was talking and I was like,
3:34
it's in my ear. Oh, they play jazz at the animal.
3:40
Like, wow, girl has jazz. I also got a manicure pedicure. Okay. at the pros or something with a P.
3:46
I might be saying it wrong, but it's um it's on um Dorsy every business.
3:52
And that's all the things I did. I also walk by this place really cute,
3:58
quaint McDonald's. Oh, yes.
4:04
I I would walk out, too. We're losing people and I agree.
4:10
People are walking out. Yeah, we get a chance. A little quaint
4:16
little place of McDonald's. How many fans here are of What we do in
4:21
the shadows. Come on, let's hear it.
4:29
Awesome. Well, I'll start with you. When you hear that type of feedback, you know, that applause from fans for the
4:35
show, what does it tell you about the work, the show, how it touched fans? I mean, it's really beautiful just because
4:43
it that's how we get to know a lot of the fans as we go to these cons and they come to us and tell us how important the
4:49
show was for them and some of them discovered it during co some of them their parents got them onto it some of
4:54
them got their parents onto it and some relationships were rekindled because of the show. I think the best one was I
5:00
went to a Comic Con and there was these two guys who came up and they said, "Hey, my dad and I, we would the three
5:06
of us would watch a show while he was going through treatment and I was like, "Oh my gosh." And he was like, "Yeah." I was really bonded over it and then they
5:13
showed up and they said, "Can you FaceTime my dad?" And I was like, "Oh, he didn't come to the things like no."
5:18
And he was kind of like in hospice, you know, kind of sad scenario. and they had driven 8 hours to the con to show their
5:26
dad the characters that they had bonded over and that for me was like wow like I was like we you know we're doing a
5:32
comedy and it touches people's hearts and then you get to meet people while doing the show like Kristen and then you
5:38
become friends and and you you know the show ends and you're like we're still going to be friends right
5:44
yeah I'll give you look too good there yeah I'm glad I see her cuz she she's
5:50
busy so she doesn't she didn't I've been busy here though.
5:56
This kid works. No, she works. We all work. We're trying to work. Well, you know, your character, you
6:02
know, one of the more popular characters, Gable there. You know, I always wanted to ask you this. What do you think you need to be doing right
6:08
now? Well, where the show ends, you know, truth be told, we had seven seasons written, but because of this
6:15
No, we didn't. Yes, we did. The story line, we do have seven. You know more than me. We did. We had
6:22
seven seasons. Not written. The idea for the seven season was already underway. What? Well, they go off together and then
6:28
everyone does their like adventure. So, that's fine.
6:33
And then the guy who, you know, pops in in every episode. Okay.
6:38
Really? No, we were supposed Now we're getting sad. No, I know. I'm really sad cuz I really
6:46
wanted them to People wanted them to be together. They're like, "Oh, you and Nando should." They did. They ended up
6:51
together. Sometimes you don't need to be physical with someone to be in love with them or love them, you know? Like you
6:57
can love somebody and it doesn't have to be physical. It's like I feel like they had every element to being partners in
7:03
life without the actual like, you know, uh intercourse.
7:08
I don't know what that word is. So, it was nice to see them together. Thing you take in college.
7:16
Uh and so I feel like they'll be together. They'll be together. together. I feel like they I would have loved them to go off and Kon and I talked about
7:22
this. They should have had something where like they go and solve crimes together, you know, good and like Yeah, they get to be partners.
7:28
They actually get to be partners in life. So, that would be great. Not not a romcom. Maybe. I don't know. I mean, Kim and I
7:34
were talking like they should definitely do a spin-off and then have the guy join us for everything. Oh, yeah.
7:40
Yeah. Well, the three of us get on really well, so it's like, you know, we could have a lot of fun together.
7:45
Yeah. Yeah. I agree. There's actually a fan here that he was talking about you. I heard you. He's over here. Uh, raise your
7:52
hand. Yeah. He's like, "Is is is Harvey coming? Is he coming?" There he is. Right there.
7:57
Here I am. Yeah. Where you visiting from? Oh,
8:03
okay. Like an hour out. Yeah. Yeah. Depending on the traffic. Thanks for coming. See, even that's a drive, you know, an
8:09
hour drive. Someone drove from a long drive. Thanks for coming. Give yourself a round of applause for
8:18
very long time. I mean, you should still applaud yourselves, but
8:25
not too loud. Well, Christ absorbed in Texas on those.
8:33
Chie, what do you miss most about the show? Which one? Oh, well, what we are, what do we do in
8:38
the show? What I miss about well you know this is
8:43
a show first of all getting to do live action is so rewarding cuz it's you know
8:49
your whole body you're with the people you're in the scene the set designs you can touch them there's it's so good and
8:56
and the surrealism of what we do in the shadows and the whimsy and and the fact
9:03
that it was still grounded but I'm like wearing fangs And I'm talking to a demon
9:10
and there's a genie like asking about um you know making deals about penis size.
9:16
Like everything was uh so unique and
9:21
something that you don't get to see on TV anymore. Like I feel like a lot of TV
9:26
shows, they're good comedies, but they play it safe. Um and this was one that
9:32
just took a real swing. I think it took some imaginations of Kiwis, like
9:38
outsiders to say like this this could work. And I'm just so happy that I found
9:44
an audience that like connected to it on such a deep level. And I'm I I said I
9:51
said this when we were wrapping up and doing interviews. I I just want to say it again and again. anyone out there who
9:58
um wants to create a TV show that's wild like this one, please do because there's
10:06
a there's an empty space for it now like we need another show like this.
10:11
Yeah. When did it hit you that it resonated with fans? Was there a moment you could recall like, "Oh, wow. This
10:16
this is popular." I didn't even need it. I was um what the first day I was I was invited to be a
10:23
guest star on season 1 and I just looked around. Actually, I was hanging out
10:29
during a lot of season 1 cuz I was shooting the Lice Spy movie in Toronto
10:34
at the same time. And so Jermaine I would just come visit Jermaine and uh who created um the show and anyways I
10:43
just I remember talking to Natasha who plays Naja and I was just looking around and I was like this show's going to be a
10:49
hit. You just have a feeling like everything is working and it's so good.
10:55
I bet that chemistry was just incredible. Yeah, talk about that. Yeah, I feel like this cast out of the
11:02
by far I think like you know you meet people you're like this is good like it's like playing hot potato nobody drops it like you just keep going and
11:08
going and everyone's firing all cylinders and um no I can't imagine anyone else playing the the characters
11:14
that are in the show by anyone else and so I mean that's first seasons I
11:20
remember Kristen she was filming and I went to your rap party. Sounds like your rap. Oh yeah, Harvey went to the My Spy rap
11:25
party and danced it away like people kind of took center stage.
11:31
I did not. Kind of became the Harvey rap party, but it was still really spars came off.
11:38
You can dance. You don't really get a opportunity to showcase your moves.
11:43
Well, I got some stunts, which is kind of a dance, I guess. It's a five, six, seven, you know. So, so if our if our sound engineer pop
11:51
on Britney Spears right now, what would happen? Oh, no.
11:58
[Music] [Applause] So, I met her at the rap party and I was
12:04
a fan of hers and then when she came and joined us cuz it was perfect. Like one of my favorite scenes ever working was
12:11
the first the time you see her. We're walking down a hallway and um like I break one of the fire like sticks, you
12:17
know, and then she turns around and she had her fangs and at this time you were flying. You floated. Yeah.
12:22
In the first floating lady. The floating lady. And she and it was just it looked so cool. She's floating
12:27
down and then she looks back and I break one of the things and she goes, "What are you doing?" And I'm like, "Nothing. I'm just saying." She was like, "Don't
12:33
touch that. The fire marshall would have a thing.
12:39
that that wasn't in the script. And I just remember like like breaking the character and I was like, "Oh my god,
12:44
this is going to be good. This is going to be so good." Cuz once you realize that people are bringing that kind of energy and that kind of comedy, you
12:50
know, chops, then you're like, "Oh man, like once everyone has that freedom to do that. I was I knew that it was going
12:56
to be a good show and I was just hoping to make it through the first season and hoping it makes it through the second season." you know, the pandemic and
13:02
hoping you're always hoping that you get to do what you love every day and that you get to go work with people that you like and we were lucky enough that we
13:08
get to do we did it for six seasons. You know, no one gets that chance. Six seasons is a good run. Yeah.
13:13
Yeah. Very nice. Yes. If if it's for any of you uh for another YouTuber, if there's
13:20
one scene in the entire series you would want to redo one more time and get back into that, what would it be and why?
13:30
scene. One scene, one scene. Last night to redo it or add to it. No, just just to relive that experience
13:37
one more time, whether it be a good experience. I mean, I really liked
13:43
um I like the the mosquito hunter stuff. That was cool.
13:48
Yeah, I I love doing that stuff. Um, I like the the Colin Robinson trying to
13:54
get into a good school episode, which was that was written by AO Adri. Yeah.
14:01
Um, that was she wrote that one. And there was, if you look closely, the outfit that Naja's wearing, the pink
14:07
Chanel suit is like a nod to the tweed Chanel suit that Marge Simpson wears
14:12
when she's dressing to a country club. Oh, so you look at that episode, you're like, why is she a bright pink? I was
14:18
like, "Oh, cuz remember that episode of the Simpsons when she tries to get into a country club, she keeps changing her outfit."
14:23
That was like a nod to that, I feel. And uh I think that's what it was cuz I think I like liked it online. She like
14:29
uh but I thought it was really cool. Like those little hidden things. Um that was a fun episode. What about What about you? Yeah.
14:36
Um I don't know. No, I there was one Yeah. cuz I cuz when
14:42
you said that I remember thinking after so many scenes how sad I was that
14:47
they're like cut you got it cuz they were just so there was like doing a play
14:52
all the scenes um because it wasn't like regular TV where you shoot one side and then you turn around and shoot the other
14:59
side like it was filmed like a reality show so we were all just like getting the different angles and just going um
15:07
and you know you set it up there's so much buildup you sit into do it and you do it and then they and then when it's
15:14
over, it's over. It's over. But I Sorry, that's so boring. Thanks for nothing.
15:20
I I did enjoy doing the stunt um scene where I got to like fly down and build
15:25
them up for for ruining the jalapy. Um that was really fun. I I wouldn't mind
15:31
doing that again. Awesome. Awesome. Hey, uh guys, it's going to be your turn to start asking the questions. So, you want to get on
15:37
this side? You can stand up with the microphone. start lining up there. I'm gonna ask them one more question and
15:42
then it'll be your turn. All right. Hey, Kristen, there's a big fan.
15:48
Somebody has a pop of Luis. There she is in the front row. Look at
15:53
that. Whoa. I have not seen any of those today.
15:59
That's great. All right. Well, we got some dressed up. Yeah, there's there's some Louise. Yeah.
16:04
Are there any Louise cosplayers in here? I thought I saw a couple. Yeah. Oh, she's sitting over there.
16:10
Okay. No. What we do in the shadows cosplayers in here? Oh, there you stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Look at that.
16:16
The dolly. Okay. Any other cosplayers? Raise your hand. Oh, you want you want to come up
16:22
here and show them? Come get a full view of your cosplay. Yeah. Come on up.
16:27
Yeah. Don't be shy. Oh, there there was a designer that came to the table. They did it. Fashion
16:34
designer. Yes. Amazing. Okay. Here we go. Now I get I get a good look. Look at this. Yay. With the doll.
16:43
Show everybody. Look at that. Great.
16:49
Yesterday is so good. They're not here today, but they came to the table and they look like they look Oh my gosh. My my stepdad. They came in. Oh, wow.
16:56
That's cool. They're right here. If you're watching this, you did fantastic. Yeah. All right. Thank you for showing off your costume. All right.
17:02
You're weapons. You're gladdest. Look at that.
17:08
Very good. All right. All right. Let's start the fan Q&A portion. Uh sir, start us off.
17:14
Hi there. I was wondering uh who your favorite guest star was uh throughout the series and maybe if you could uh
17:20
provide some stories of working with him. I know what you're going to say.
17:27
What am I going to say? You're going to say Luke Skywalker. Yeah. Mark Campbell. I love Mark Campbell. Like everyone was so excited
17:33
for Mark Campbell. And I love Mark Campbell, but for a different reason. I like for me growing up he was my Joker
17:39
and so growing up I was like oh my god Mark Campbell and like and I I like Star Wars but the boys like you know Matt and
17:45
Kon were so excited for him to come. So when he showed up to set and we lined up, it was like Downtown Abbey. We're
17:51
like outside waiting for like the car pulled up and
17:57
we're like waiting for him and he opens the door and his legs come out and he comes out and then we're like waiting for him to come to set and then the boys
18:04
are like, "Oh my gosh, look Skywalker. Oh my gosh." And I was just like, "Yeah." You know, cuz I was like excited to meet him and he comes out of the car
18:10
and he goes, "Harvey." And he comes over and gives me a hug. And I was like, and I look over goes, "Oh,
18:20
But I liked him and I became friends with him and his daughter who actually did a film u life of Chuck did with Mike
18:26
Flanigan and so we've worked together since then. Um but um I said I became friends with Haley Joel Osman
18:32
like he's a big Dodger fan and he's we went to dinner the first night he was on set and we had to do a
18:38
lot of scenes like Toeer like Toeer high five. Um, and he's so great and so
18:43
giving and uh, he even did a video that we that we didn't think he would do. Like, do you want to do a TikTok
18:49
together? Like, what is it? And then we all look at the camera and we go, we see dead people over to where he goes.
18:58
And he did it. We did the video. So, I was like, "Oh, he's a cool guy." It was really nice. Very cool. Yours?
19:05
Um, oh crap. Uh, everybody like I had it and then I forgot it.
19:13
come back to it in a while. It's coming. Uh I don't I didn't like any of them because they my screen time. So
19:21
yeah, it's a lot of fights. Oh yeah, me at Google. That wasn't so bad. And her uh Phoenix husband. That
19:29
was cool. Um Jim uh the director, what's his name?
19:35
He's like what? Yeah, there everybody was good.
19:41
All right, good stuff. All right, who's up next?
19:46
Hi, I'm Monica from San Antonio, Texas. Welcome. I had a question. What would
19:51
you say to somebody that's never seen what we do in the shadows to convince them to watch the show? Because I have a
19:57
friend who shall remain nameless. Watch out. Um, that hasn't watched it.
20:03
They've watched the movie, but they have security. I know. Thank you. Um, but what would you convince them to
20:09
like, hey, you should really check this out? Um, if you want to be my friend,
20:14
they they watched the movie. Did they like the movie? Oh, okay. Cuz if they didn't like the
20:20
movie, then it might not be for them. Um, I would say that uh, you know, this
20:26
this uh spin-off uh has all the same um comedic tone as the movie. like it's got
20:33
uh Taiga and Jermaine's um fingerprints all over it and like I mean watch it for
20:39
Matt Barry like you don't get Matt Barry in the movie but you're going to get him in this and he's like got uh he's he's
20:47
special. You want to watch it for Chris? Watch it for Harvey. I would I would I
20:52
would say that um yeah and the story lines are great and it's very imaginative. It's fun. Um,
21:00
yeah. And it seems like he could be a better friend to you, you know, like just going to take out of
21:06
it and like watch a couple. Yeah. Thank you. I think you go to dinner tonight. Talk about that.
21:13
I'm like really scared that I can't think of any guest stars except for Mark Camel.
21:18
That's That's your answer. There it is. Anyone look up guest stars on their
21:24
What? Oh, well felt like a he was like
21:30
permanent. Oh, I was going to say David Cross. He was on David was funny to him. Yeah.
21:35
By the way, do we have a Linda cosplay here? Yeah. Let me
21:40
What's his name? Yeah, that's my problem, too. Yes. Oh, by the way, real fast. Hang on. Did
21:46
you see the Linda cosplay? Yeah. Yeah. We kind of laid there. Yeah.
21:51
Okay. Um, hello. Honor to meet y'all. Um, so I've been I'm really obsessed
21:56
with like voice acting and like looking for like really specific roles that voice actors have been in like Michelle
22:02
the only my mind immediately goes to that chick in Despicable Me too. Yes. Oh, she's scary.
22:09
Yes. My my daughter like hides comes on. Yeah. Um I only realized until like a
22:16
few seconds ago that Harvey was better with some boots. Team
22:25
What's the most obscure role you've been recognized for by a fan? Oh, maybe that's Sharon. Yeah. Yeah.
22:32
Thank you. Probably people don't
22:37
get to the table where we're signing and stuff. They're like, "What? Why do you have a picture of booths?" I was like, "Because that's me."
22:44
I think I would know that. Or um funny the fun house. I was going to say Harvey does that one.
22:50
If you have really little kids, you would watch it, which I did. And it it doesn't sound like KBY at all.
22:56
And it's a hard roll to do because it's an octave higher than my voice. So, and his laugh is really high. So, whenever I
23:02
recorded those, I needed to be really warmed up and I had to be talking really high. I can't even do it right now because it's such a different voice.
23:08
But, no, I was at the museum one time uh in New York and there was a lady behind with her uh kid on her hands and she
23:15
tapped me and I looked back and she goes, "Sorry, Ginger. are you funny the fun house? And I was like, where did you
23:22
hear that? I wasn't talking in that voice. Like it just something about the word you said right now. And she pointed
23:28
it out and I was like, there's no way. But that I would say that for wild. Yeah.
23:33
Yes, sir. I just wanted to know um of all the cast members, which one caused you guys to either cause the most
23:40
bloopers or the most laughs on set?
23:46
That's a good one. Um, everybody was pretty serious. Um, and in their
23:52
character, so nobody really like went out of their way to do fun stuff. Would you agree?
23:57
I Well, I was going to say for me, all my scenes were with Kavon. Kvon is probably the like most mellow. He loves
24:04
goofing around and he would try to he would on purposely try to make me break because I think you're talking about
24:10
everyone else because I take Gro very seriously. So I always have to be grounded cuz always really like just
24:16
focus on his job and I would not try to break character cuz I have to stay in GMO mode and so came out when I
24:23
purposely tried to make me break on camera as a personal challenge. So he would come on set and he see me focus in
24:28
the corner like getting into character and he go the greatest actor in the world
24:35
and I was like stop and he goes he started laughing at his own joke and then he on purpose he would do something I was like stop and I would break
24:41
character and make me feel really funny and and then I would loosen up and then like okay fine we got out of the way one
24:47
time he did it and we couldn't stop laughing for like three takes and the director was like okay guys
24:53
like it's not me that's not me and I asked part of the problem cuz I was laughing this joke, but you know, we had
24:59
to get the job done. So, it's hard cuz it was like take four, take six, take
25:04
seven, and now the show's cancelled. So, if you guys want to know why the show was cancelled because
25:10
Did anybody stay um on a hotel on the Riverwalk last night?
25:17
Just wanted Okay, I'm just curious if you heard that band till midnight.
25:24
That must have been nice for you. They were good. They were good. They were good.
25:31
I wanted to ask what the like coolest um
25:36
piece of a set or prop that you worked with on the show was. Oh, I love this question. Um so, because
25:44
we knew that the show was ending, which is pretty unusual. um while we were shooting, we kind of could uh collect
25:52
things cuz we were there and they were going to throw them in the garbage. And so one of the things that I got to keep
25:59
was um because in season one when they have the vampiric council they call
26:04
everybody that's been a vampire on a TV show and um Paul Rubin had come in and
26:10
so they did a portrait of Paul Rubin and um other people that hung in the
26:15
vampiric library and our one of my last scenes with you and in the library. Who
26:22
else was in that scene? Oh, Michael Bryant. There's a guest star. I really
26:27
enjoyed Michael O'Brien. Your answer. I'm gonna find you all day as they pop
26:32
into my head. And so anyways, um I got to they were about to take that portrait
26:38
and throw it in the garbage and now I got to save it. So it's just all hanging up in my house.
26:45
And I thought about you yesterday at the Alamo cuz the PB line. So I thought and and I took a video of
26:51
it and sent to you, but I thought about you. I got a picture of it. One of my favorite artifacts at the
26:56
Alger um I got to keep um remember that lamp
27:02
at the at the pilot when I exit the room and I double think about opening the window with the sunlight. Remember that
27:08
and I go to the door and like you see my silhouette and I just turn the light off like like that. I did that in the pilot
27:13
and I did that in the last episode. So I started the show and ended the show with that lamp. So I have that lamp at home.
27:20
So I have that. Yeah. What room is it in? In uh my guest room.
27:25
Not so the room that burned down fire. Okay, thanks for bringing that up.
27:31
My house was affected by the fires and all cleaned up, but it wasn't a complete make it sound like
27:36
my whole house burned to the ground. Well, I don't need for you. Maybe nicer questions.
27:42
Nicer questions. Uh no, we're uh we can finally move in the area, but it wasn't as bad as my neighbors who completely
27:49
lost everything. So, thanks Kristen. I got your back.
27:54
Thank you. Well, no, because I wanted to stay at your place in your office. I checked in with you via text.
28:02
She did. She's a good She's a good friend.
28:07
Did you did actually really wonderful? Hello, young man.
28:13
I've been meaning to speak up a little louder, please.
28:21
I have a question. I You got it. You're good. You're good.
28:29
It's from this show called Gravity Falls. [Applause]
28:36
Like, what was your favorite like episode to like make?
28:43
That's a Okay, that's a great question. A tough one. They were all the episodes were so fun. Um, I of course loved the
28:51
cloning boy band episode. Like I grew up loving boy bands. I loved when I got to
28:57
meet Waddles for the first time and the time traveling episode. Um, and then the
29:03
the public golf episode I liked because of all the different puppet uh golf
29:08
balls that were in their own little societies. Um, and for Mando like
29:14
anything where she gets to gush and crush. So yeah, thank you.
29:20
Oh my goal. That is like your own.
29:27
Okay. Is there going to be like a season 3 of of Gravity Falls?
29:33
There is not going to be a season 3 of Gravity Falls. Unfortunately, that was a rumor and I saw it on the internet and I
29:40
I called Alex and he said, "You and my dad."
29:46
So, no, there is not. But let's let's send out good vibes for more gravity
29:51
ball. Okay. Is this thing on? Okay. Uh back.
29:58
Yeah. Yes. Kristen, it's me, Darren from earlier, and I have a and I have another question for you. Um and I'm going to
30:05
say this on behalf of the Bob Spurs fans who are sitting here right now. Um what was the character development like for
30:10
Louise and Bob Squares? cuz I know that in the earlier episodes she was like a chaotic girl and then in the latest
30:16
episodes she was like she went she went to an understanding individual with her
30:21
less chaotic persona. How can you describe that change? Well, I would say that um
30:29
the lucky thing about character development in a show that gets to exist for so long is that um you know it's
30:37
earned. So I I think that Louise was always kind of a bit of a
30:43
mischievous like kind of you know she was a toughy but then um sprinkled
30:51
throughout you would see that she had a real vulnerable warm place for her
30:57
family and whether or not her family like loved her. Um, and and that comes
31:02
through and and what I appreciate about the writers and how they've built this
31:08
show so that it's always fresh. The characters are never going to age.
31:13
They're never going to have a birthday. I will not answer a question about what movies will be in the future because she
31:20
just exists here and now. But I think that we've just been gifted the amount
31:26
of time to afford um watching an emotional growth under over 300 episodes
31:32
without losing the characters. So I uh the character I would say in answer to your question Darian it's the writers
31:40
they're worth their weight in gold. [Applause]
31:47
Hi my name is Patrick. Um, so if there were to be an unhinged crazy fantasy
31:53
cage fight between Louise and Mabel, who would win? Well, I think I mean, Mabel's pretty
32:01
feisty sometimes, but I would I can't imagine them fighting. Why are you making them fight?
32:10
So, which one do you want to win? Do you want to stand up?
32:15
Uh, both. Both. That's what I would say. I would say like I would feel like Louise would
32:22
obviously get the upper hand because she is like more driven um towards violence,
32:28
but then um in the end I think they would have so much in common that just
32:33
they would become friends just like you know Mabel and and Greta and they would
32:39
be friends and and Louise and regulars Rudy like they would be friends.
32:46
[Applause] Hello, my name is Ma, but um my middle name is Mabel and then my grandma's name
32:52
is also Mabel. So, obviously our favorite character is Mabel. And my question would be if you know
32:58
there's speculation that Rick and Morty and um Gravity Falls tend to have a crossover. If that were to happen in an
33:05
episode, what would you want it to look like? I mean, I feel like the time traveling episode where she gets
33:11
waddles, I mean, even the voice of the of the guy um was voiced by that guy.
33:17
Um, so it's pretty much happened. I don't know. I think maybe um it would
33:25
it would that would be the closest I think, you know, but anything could happen because they're both like worlds
33:31
that can go into different realms. I've never liked to see, and I'm alone
33:36
in this, but crossover episodes bother me. I feel like everyone's worked so
33:41
hard to build a unique world that you can fall into that when you like say,
33:47
"And now we're here. We're in our church world." It's like, "Don't, no, don't. Um, let's just just stay in our lanes.
33:55
Nobody changed." Thank you for that question.
34:03
Yeah. Hey, uh, can you talk to that mask? Um, yeah.
34:08
Okay. Um, hi, I'm
34:13
ask. That's what you should definitely do.
34:20
One of the questions of all the
34:27
the characters um you often which one is your favorite?
34:37
Um for for voice over or just in general? Oh, both of us. Okay. Um I would say
34:44
voice over. It's hard cuz I I love I mean I think such a great character that
34:51
I love the when people tell me how you know feel story. Um but I also like
34:58
playing like Mike Wing you know and really quick cuz he's unhinged.
35:03
Um, and live action. I mean, I have to say obviously, you know, BF.
35:10
[Applause] Um, I will not be picking between Louise
35:17
and Mabel. Um, and I will not be I mean, if I if I had to, I'd say Louise cuz
35:23
Louise is still going and I got to follow her. Um, and then for live
35:30
action, I I don't know. I I don't like to pick either, but it would be a tossup
35:35
between Carol and Mel for sure. All right, good question. Hazel.
35:42
I like Hazel. I My my introduction to Kristen was Hazel and Dirty Rock. Have you guys
35:47
Yeah. So, I was Some of my favorite lines in 30 Rock came from uh Kristen's
35:52
character. Um, hello. My thigh like wearing a bra at work.
35:59
She wears a bra at work. My eyes hurt. My boobs are down here.
36:08
That's some of the great stuff. Yeah. Oh, you have another question. Yeah. You have another question.
36:13
One other question. Have you guys ever like like
36:18
so much that um even like after
36:24
you like that. Yeah, I would say like to do the accent
36:31
for the guy sometimes I would um like fall and do it by accident, but then um
36:37
playing Mabel cuz she has such a specific uh bubbly energy. I would um I
36:43
would just always walk out of the booth feeling like super positive for the rest of the day.
36:50
Yeah. Um, I think I I pick up on other people's characters and I walk away like
36:56
I don't know if that's nice or they like it if I walked away and I start doing like Mark's voice like speaking like
37:03
Mark and they're like or Matt Barry's voice I walk away, you know, oh
37:09
just sound effects that I pick up and walk away and do it because I've been hanging out with them so much but not necessarily my characters. I like I
37:16
think I focus on the other person and I'm like that's I'm going to walk away with that. Yeah. All right. Here you go.
37:21
Hey, we can uh we got to get them going in a few minutes here. So, uh just ask a question and let's do rapid fire now.
37:27
Thank you. Hi. Um so, you guys talked a lot about the show's improv and how all the
37:33
characters really worked well together in that. Can you touch on a moment behind the scenes where an improvised
37:39
line or expected reaction made it to the final cut and an alternative that you
37:45
wished made it to the final cut that didn't? I think I had that one was my earlier one about you when she improvised that
37:51
scene with the the fire. She's going to have a fit and she had these fangs and it's just like it's it was so funny to
37:58
me and they made it into the final cut. And then another one would be the um I I added um Gizmo get the dildos. How are
38:06
the dildos? They're fine. You know, the idea that Germo will try them out.
38:13
Um, yeah, that was only the product that I can't believe it painted, so that mean the show.
38:19
Yeah, I can't really remember anything specific. It's kind of all fading away. There's so I remember we shot so much
38:27
that never made the cut. Like I would say days of shooting that didn't make
38:33
the final cut. Um, to the point where I was even like we maybe don't need to be
38:39
in Toronto this long.
38:48
Thank you. All right. Next question, sir. Um Kristen, um you play like every
38:54
character. Can you name every character you've ever played?
38:59
Okay. Um let's see. Uh Jake Jr., Louise,
39:06
um, Carol, Mel, Mabel, Sharon, Trixie,
39:13
um, and then I, um, Hazel, thanks.
39:19
So, no, I All right, sir. You get the last
39:24
question. All right. Um, that's about everything I was going to ask. Well, I look at me. I'm a mess. Yes.
39:32
Stars character. Okay. Um, what's uh I don't know how to ask this, but what's one like episode or
39:39
like one thing that your character had to like go through and work through um that kind of like helped you like work
39:46
that same thing? So sweet. I think for me was the coming out
39:51
episode for Diego. Like it was like, yay, coming out. Um, which already was like a problematic thing because I was
39:58
like, "Oh, he's being forced to come out because he's trying to defend Naja and his mom is trying to kill Na and his
40:03
family." So, it was like he was outed a little bit and I was like, he wasn't really coming out. He was using his sexuality as a shield to to save his
40:10
chosen family and protect them from his biological family, which I think whenever somebody comes out, it's their
40:15
choice. Um, and coming out is such a I don't like that phrase anyways. I think it should not be called coming out
40:21
because people don't just wake up and go, I'm gay. I meant to tell everyone, you know, or I'm queer. Like, tell the
40:27
whole world. I think it should be called letting you in. [Applause]
40:37
Oh, I Well, to follow up on that, um, I I'm
40:44
straightforward, but I uh I'll let you in.
40:49
Um, I was going to say that uh the guide is consistently left out and I I feel
40:56
with my social circles at times like oh how come I didn't get invited to this
41:01
dinner party or a trip like I still unfortunately in my 40s I'm still like feeling that and it hurts so much when
41:10
it happens. So, it was kind of nice to funnel that energy very close to home
41:16
into the guy being consistently left out of the crew. Harvey does invite me.
41:22
There you go. There we go. All right, everybody. If he did not get a chance to speak uh with either two people here,
41:28
don't worry cuz their tables are open. You just want to go downstairs. Give them about 10 minutes to return. We'll give him a little break. But just going
41:35
to give it up for the cast.
41:42
[Applause]
