Description: Walter Karat (Mads Mikkelsen), a former Michelin starred chef, has gone from being the top chef at the White House to now, 20 plus years later, making meals for the inmates at a federal correctional institution. However, his exacting standards about food have never faltered, and when death row inmate Jeffrey Reed (Boyd Holbrook) refuses to eat his meals, Walter has to find out why. He learns that Reed, who proclaims his innocence, is on a hunger strike in a desperate attempt to bring attention to his plight. When local food critic Hannah Corddry helps bring Reed’s story to a wider audience, Walter finds himself the reluctant focus of a media frenzy. But his new friendship with Reed — and with Hannah — takes him out of his self-imposed shell and transforms him into a fierce political warrior against the vested interests that would send Reed to the death chamber without due process — but it’s a fight that may cost Walter his reputation — and his freedom.
