Grant Gustin & Candice Patton Q&A | WestAllen, Finale Stories & Flash Suit Secrets
Nov 6, 2025
Recorded live in San Antonio, TX (2025). Grant Gustin (Barry Allen) and Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen) sit down for a candid, funny, and heartfelt panel covering nine seasons of The Flash.
Highlights
John Wesley Shipp returns: why putting the 1990 suit back on mattered—and how his presence grounded key Barry/Henry scenes.
WestAllen moments the cast still thinks about: leadership talks, “Out of Time,” the time vault confession, and that slow-mo hug at Jitters.
Iris suits up: Candice on getting abilities for a day, the mask tape struggle, and learning the hero slide.
Set keepsakes: Grant has his final suit; Candice kept the wedding rings; both admit to a stash of Jitters mugs and wardrobe dupes.
Cast superlatives: Tom Cavanagh the breaker of scenes, Carlos Valdes for karaoke, Jesse L. Martin the… enthusiastic “collector.”
Crossovers & cameos: first Arrow clash memories, why the in-between moments with Stephen, Melissa, Victor Garber, and more still stick.
Mark Hamill as Trickster: intense first day, sweet off-camera gestures (yes, lightsabers were involved).
Finale feelings: birthing Nora, an on-set baby “surprise,” COVID workarounds, and Grant’s last shot—one more run on green screen.

[Music] Oh my goodness. We are so excited you
0:31
guys are here. Just real quick, how's San Antonio been treating you so far? Yeah. You know, when you do a
0:38
convention, you know, everyone's really proud of their city, but you really see the airport, the hotel, and the
0:43
convention center. So, all those have been real nice. Um, but yeah, it's been
0:49
great. All right, I'm going to be watching the World Series in my hotel room, but but
0:55
thank you. Uh, you beat me to my first question. So, um, wanted to ask you first the most
1:03
important question to you, Grant. Uh, how are your Dodgers going to fair in the World Series? Any Dodgers fans?
1:09
Um, yeah, this is not a year that I thought we'd go on a run. We We had a
1:15
lot of injuries and the bullpen was struggling, but yeah, they look really good. So, I you know, you don't want to
1:21
jinx anything in baseball or sports in general, but um you know, it's hard not
1:26
to feel pretty good about how they look right now. I mean, they're they're nine and one in the playoffs, so something
1:32
like that. We're going to send good vibes away, right guys? If there's any Blue Jay fans in the house,
1:38
I apologize. Uh this is the Blue Jays. We in Vancouver, everyone's a Blue Jays fan. So, I love the Blue Jays fans.
1:49
But I want the Dodgers to win. Um, I know I speak for a lot of folks in
1:55
the house tonight. Um, saying I I grew up watching the the original Flash
2:01
series with John Wesley Ship. You guys went above and beyond to not only create
2:07
a show for your own, but also include the man, the myth, legend, John himself.
2:12
Um, what did it mean to you and how fulfilling was it to have the original Barry on the show? But also later on in
2:20
the series, you guys put him back in his iconic red suit. And that like I I think
2:27
I screamed a lot of screaming when he first put it on. Am I alone in this?
2:34
Yeah, it was cool. Well, I know it meant a lot to John, especially the last part and him getting to have closure to that
2:41
character because he only got one season and um I think he thought he was going
2:47
to get to do more back in the '9s and um so it meant a lot to him put the shirt
2:52
back on and wrap it up in the way that he got to wrap it up. Um yeah, it was always great to have John around it. It
2:59
was never you could tell how much it meant to him and then I think it early in our journeys when you're just so deep
3:05
in it, it it it gave us better perspective of how special it would be for us, you know, 20, 30 years down the
3:12
line. So yeah, looking back, I think now in hindsight, look at how John was probably
3:17
looking at us. Like you kids have no idea how lucky you are and how grateful
3:23
you should be for this experience. And he always came in very humble and excited to be there. no ego about him
3:29
and he's also a phenomenal actor like some of those scenes with Grant and him
3:34
just a son and father are so powerful and I think he was a part of that kind of like grounding family force on our
3:41
show which we really needed and appreciated him for. I know he's not here, but round of applause for the
3:47
great general show.
3:54
Your your love story on on TV is one of my all-time favorites. Was there any specific scene between the two of you
4:00
that felt like the heart of the West Allen relationship?
4:08
You know something? Do you ever recite lines to yourself? I don't remember a lot of lines, but the other day I was
4:13
like in my car remembering the scene we had together and like we are the flag. It was definitely not.
4:22
But there's there was one scene where I was saying to you were just kind of lamenting about having to be the leader and you didn't want to be the leader and
4:28
you just felt this pressure and we were just sitting there and I I think I can't remember who the director was but Iris
4:35
just says to Barry like in this very calm simple way of I know you don't want to be the leader but you have to be and
4:41
sometimes it was just like these really powerful moments between you know husband and wife where they really I
4:47
don't know empowered each other and those are really special for There was also one where we were like
4:53
running out of time. We were in the We didn't really have a plan that day. It was called Out of Time, I think. Was it called Out of Time?
4:59
The bomb had gone off. The bomb had gone off. That's a really good episode. And we didn't really have a plan for that. And I think you were a little
5:05
nervous about how to execute it. And I was too, probably more so than you. Yeah, I was. Yeah. I remember just doing
5:11
cuz I was They were spraying me with sweat. Yes. But I was also like in outside the cortex doing jumping jacks before I came
5:18
in. So I'd be sweaty and out of breath. Um, and that scene turned out great. Yeah,
5:23
that was a Yeah, and just another one of those like two people like being with each other and
5:29
trusting each other and I don't remember what the scene was about and I referenced it to you before
5:35
in a panel because I remember what you were wear like what we were wearing specifically you it was like a red
5:40
jumpsuit and we're in the time vault and I think it was nelson. It was neon. Yeah. That's a really
5:46
It's when you tell me that I'm going to die. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, that was a good one. Yeah. And then just I remember the pilot
5:54
and um when Barry has left the hospital for the first time and goes to Jitters and we did that slow motion shot of me
6:01
seeing you and then you coming and hugging me. A lot of powerful things. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There were a lot. And
6:08
also Earth 2 was one that came to mind as you were asking, but that was kind of obviously different because it wasn't a
6:14
part of their real love story. But they're earth, too. And I forget exactly. I have that phone call whenever
6:20
we're Earth. I get to hear my mom's voice. And yeah, we had a there were a lot of emotional moments over the years.
6:27
Emotionally charged moments. Favorite TV couple. Am I alone in this?
6:33
[Applause] Candace. I remember this vividly. There
6:39
was a lot of hoopla online when Iris received her first super suit in season 4. What was your initial reaction when
6:47
your character was getting powers? And what is that first experience like for you suiting up?
6:52
I was really confused because I remember season 1 asking Jeff John's and our producer at the time, Andrew Chrysberg,
6:58
like would I ever suit up? Is that something that is in the cards for my character? Cuz you kind of want to know.
7:03
Um Um and they were like, no, absolutely not. We would never do that. So, I kind
7:09
of just was like, "Okay, great. I don't have to do late night shoots." And, you know, I get to do all interior stuff
7:14
mostly. Um, so then when it happened, I was like, "This is cool." Like, it was cool to see what Grant went through for
7:21
9 days. I experienced it. And you didn't have to wear a cowl. Didn't have to wear a cowl, which is
7:26
very cumbersome. I had like a little mask that they taped onto my face which was annoying enough. But yeah, I think
7:33
you when a lot of us got that experience of wearing a suit, we had a better appreciation for what Grant was dealing
7:41
with all the time, you know? It's it's a it's it's a lot. It's a lot. So, um but it
7:48
was really fun. I enjoyed it. I remember asking Grant like how to slide like how do you how do you That's everybody's first question.
7:53
Yeah. Cuz he makes it look so cool. Well, then you go to do it and you're like, "Wait a second." It's and it's hard to make it look cool,
8:00
but he's a dancer, so he has more of like a understanding of his body. And I think the only person who came close to
8:06
making it their own was Jordan Fisher, who played um my son. He definitely made it his own. He never
8:13
asked me for any tips. He just did his own thing. Yeah. We have a bunch of fan questions.
8:18
I'll get through a bunch if I can. Abby, where you at, Abby? Right over there on the side. Abby wants to know, "Do you
8:26
have any favorite memorabilia that you kept from your time working on The Flash?" You won't tell.
8:33
I've never outright said it at a panel. I say it oneonone to people, but I feel like enough time has passed, they won't
8:39
get into limitations. You won't tell. I have the very last suit I wore, they let me keep. So, you
8:46
didn't know that? Wait, I think I did know that. Can you say that? Is it more of those like I don't know. I think they're about to
8:51
get sold. So, they might be like, "We need it.
8:57
Um, I don't know. Yeah, it's I don't know what to do with it. It's just in a box and I'm not going to like put it on
9:02
a mannequin in my house or like even a hanger feels weird." So, it's just like
9:08
disintegrating in a box right now. Yeah. I have um uh my wedding rings. That's
9:14
pretty much the only thing I kept. We would take things every once in a while like while the show was running. Like I have a bunch of jitters mugs.
9:20
Yeah, me too. wardrobe. Like every once in a while I have like a sweat a sweater or something. Can I have like a duplicate of this?
9:26
Actually, a lot of Iris's clothes. Like she had a lot of great clothes in our uh wardrobe designer Kate M. But I really
9:33
Yeah, I do the same thing like can I get an extra one of these? And she would always hook me up with stuff. Although season two, is that the one with the
9:39
jacket where I get killed? Is that when I get killed by uh that's three, right? Three.
9:45
When we when we tried on that jacket, I thought it was so great. I was like, "This jacket is amazing. being like, "Can I have another one?" I didn't
9:51
realize that season how much I would be wearing that jacket and be murdered over and over and over again in it.
9:57
So, I've never worn a one. I also like I have a like a I don't have
10:03
it anymore. I had for years had a burgundy like bomber jacket. Oh, yeah. That Barry wore a lot. Yeah. And I was
10:09
like, "This is such a cool jacket." And then Yeah. I wore it too much and it just stayed in my closet until I I sent
10:15
it away to family members. I want to learn more about the rest of the main
10:21
cast. So, I have a bunch of questions for you guys and I just want you to respond with which cast member fits the
10:27
bill or is the culprit. And they're not here to defend themselves. And they're not here. And we're not going to tell them, are
10:33
we? Okay. Uh, who is most likely to dance in between shooting scenes?
10:38
Me or Tom? You said you were Tom. Me or Tom? Yeah. Who is most likely to try and make
10:45
others break character while filming? Tom. Tom. It's unanimous.
10:52
Who is most likely to sing between shooting scenes? Me or Tom? Tom or Carlos? I was going to say, yeah,
11:05
was too good for things. Who has the best impressions of others
11:11
or just impressions in general? Tomos. Yeah, Bloss is weird. Like Los is weird.
11:19
Yeah, but Tom, I'll go with Tom. I don't know that toms are particularly like incredible.
11:26
He'll do them. Yeah, he'll try. He'll do them. There you go. Uh, we already kind of
11:32
talked about this one. Um, well actually other than you two, who has who else has taken something from set?
11:38
Everybody. Jesse Elar. Yes, he was back. He was the seat. He was back. He had no shame about it. I deserve this
11:46
one day and I was like, "Go off, kid." I We were on set and it was like some warehouse type thing. And it was just me
11:51
and him and cuz it was like a police scene and there was like a crime scene and there was all these vintage books
11:58
and he found this like sh a collection of Shakespeare's plays that had come out
12:03
in like I think it was published in the 20s and the prop guy had to come to him and be like you cannot take this like
12:11
you can't it was worth probably like $2 or $3,000. He was like, "This this
12:16
cannot leave sad." And he I think all day was it probably did leave sad.
12:22
I mean, a lot of my gifts like the mugs from Jitters, like I didn't take them. I was gifted them by Jesse.
12:30
And like little things that be like, "Yeah, I believe you should have this." I'm like, "You're right. I should." Dad deserves them.
12:35
I deserve this. Thanks, Dad. Who is the best at karaoke?
12:41
Carlos. Justin. How? I don't hate karaoke. How are you
12:46
the best at it? I think there's a number of components to it cuz you might not be the best
12:51
singer, but you might have the best presentation of Carlos. We're new at Carlos.
12:56
And what's his go-to song? I mean, I've never seen a new car,
13:02
so I don't I don't I just his voice is so good and he has a way of having no inhibition. So, I'm going to go with
13:09
This next question is from Michaela. Michaela, where are you at? right here in the front. Uh, she would like to know
13:17
actually question for you Candace. Which death in the Flash affected you the most?
13:22
Which death? My own.
13:27
I was like, right, coming back. Um,
13:34
yeah. Who else died? Your mom, right? Did my mom die? She did die. Guys, that scene is so hard to shoot. I
13:41
was laughing the whole time. Like, oh, it was like her second episode, right? Yeah. She only done like a couple
13:48
episodes and like I just couldn't I don't know. I just was laughing. Like I don't know you.
13:53
I didn't know her. I mean, she was incredible actress. She was very good. I just I got to work with her. She was great. She was amazing. Nothing
13:59
against her. I just don't know what it was. I just found it hilarious.
14:04
Yeah. But my mom did die. Yeah. Norah disappeared too. Like that counts,
14:10
right? That's the one that got me the most. Your daughter, she died.
14:16
She did. She died. She vanished. I'm going to watch the show. [Music]
14:23
I promise. It's called Flash. I'm going to check it out. You can find all the seasons on Netflix
14:29
right now. Copy that. I believe this is uh either Dean or Dan.
14:36
Uh way over there. There you go. Um, would you I'll change this a little bit
14:42
too if that's okay. Would you ever repraise your role for a future project
14:48
either as a Flash or a kind of extended member of the Flash family? Yeah, I would love to.
15:01
Yeah, I think enough time has passed from the show um that it felt special.
15:07
Um, and not like a desperate thing or just Yeah, I feel like enough time would
15:12
have to pass, but yeah, for sure. What are some of your fondest memories
15:18
from the first crossover with the Aeroccast and Supergirl herself, Elizabeth?
15:26
Honest. Honestly, that first one like probably No, actually the the this is had really
15:32
nothing to do with the actual crossover, but the memory I remember the most and I think about it
15:39
often was we were shooting the scene where we're in the alley and Flash and
15:46
Arrow were fighting each other. But that scene took a long time. I had shot other things that whole day and then we came
15:53
for a flash I think and then we came and we blocked that scene and then we broke for lunch and lunch sometimes can happen
15:59
at like 8:00 p.m. and I cuz we had a night shoot that night so I think it was at 8:00 p.m. and I was sitting in a
16:05
holding room and this was early days where the cow was fluent to my face cuz
16:10
they swore it was the only way of doing it. So I would wear it for like 12 hours at a time. So, I'm in a holding room,
16:17
which was a hotel room, eating lunch, wearing glued into my mask, reading The
16:23
Man in Yellow, which was episode 109. And it was going to be the next episode we were going to shoot. And there was
16:30
something emotional I'm reading cuz I don't remember what it was, but I remember sitting in the couch, eating my
16:35
lunch, and just like crying reading the script. Um, and that's my most vivid memory from the first crossover, Clash
16:42
Versus Arrow. It had nothing to do with shooting the episode.
16:47
That was boring. Um, absolutely love that though. You guys love that first crossover.
16:53
I don't remember. I remember we No, the first one was called Flash
17:00
versus Arrow. It was very contained. It was just me and it was just me going to arrow. I think that is a crossover by
17:05
definition. It is. That was the first one. when you when you guys like upped the
17:11
Annie and started bringing in other shows and started listen I talked to a
17:16
few cast members about this like the stuff that you guys pulled out and defined is nothing short of
17:23
extraordinary like you guys went and canonized the Birds of Prey the early
17:29
2000s uh series like you brought Bird Ward back for a cameo I mean this is all
17:35
fun and cool and I know it was like fan it's like and the fans And that's what's cool about it. The things I remember are
17:41
like Victor Garber complaining about something at 3:00 a.m. or like fair.
17:46
Exactly. This is not like I mean like making me cry laughing because he's speaking so much truth or like
17:53
you know laughing with Steven or laughing with Melissa or like I remember the stuff that happened in between
18:00
shooting. They were hard. Like crossovers were hard and like I had it probably the easiest. Um but they were
18:06
really hard. But to your point, I think like what the CW, Warner Brothers, we were able to execute with very little
18:13
money on television with a limited amount of time is nothing short of spectacular. Like making these mini
18:19
movies with multiple shows and crews and it just really speaks to like the level of production and how many people behind
18:26
the scenes were firing at the top of their game. like credit is really, you
18:31
know, due to a lot of those crew members and production um people for sure. You
18:37
guys agree?
18:42
Next question is from Jim Davis where you sir right there in the middle. Do
18:48
you have any advice uh on how to get into TV in film?
18:54
I said this to someone earlier. I mean, everyone I think breaks in in their own way that there's no handbook on how to
19:02
get into it or how to make it happen. Um, I think, you know, there's a quote
19:07
from Flash that I had lived by before and and since that's, you know, luck is
19:13
when preparation meets opportunity. And that's just a part of any industry, but especially this one. But as an actor,
19:19
the only advice I ever have for people is to just stay true to yourself and to remember like you're the only one that
19:26
can bring your instrument, yourself, your humanness to the table. Like it's
19:32
every human superpower, but that's every actor's superpower. No one else can be you. So don't try to be like
19:40
Candace or me or Yeah. Don't cuz I need a job. It's true. I mean, like, you know, cuz I
19:46
spent years being wanting to be like this actor or that actor, but then you have to remember like, no, nobody else is me and I and I'm the only one that
19:52
can bring that to the table. So, I think that's important to remember. Yeah. And I think the industry is always
19:59
changing. When we were breaking in, it's very different than it is now for actors trying to break in. So, my advice is
20:05
kind of a new point, you know, it's just a it's a different ball game now. But I think the the thing that will always
20:11
stand the test of time in this industry in any kind of entertainment field is resilience. I mean, you're going to have
20:18
meager times and you're going to hear no a lot and people are going to be very mean to you. Um, and you just have to
20:25
have a really thick skin about yourself. You know, there there are moments where you worked for 9 years and then you
20:31
leave a show and you don't work for a couple of years and you just kind of have to know in the back of your head like it's coming again. like I I'm I'm
20:39
dedicated to the work. I'm not dedicated to being famous or making a lot of money. I just want to be an actor. So,
20:46
as long as you're committed to your craft and doing that, then you'll you'll find it. You'll find it somewhere.
20:52
Y'all better clap for that. [Applause]
21:01
This next question is from Nick. Nick, will you answer right there? Nick would
21:07
like to know which non flash show character was your favorite to work
21:12
alongside. [Applause] Always such a touchy question.
21:19
There's so many. Great. It's true. Just like throw a dart and pick. I mean, I often say Ramsay. Um
21:27
Oh, diggle. Um yeah. Well, I mean,
21:34
um, I mean, Victor, I count I know Victor technically was introduced on our show,
21:39
but he was really a legend's actor. Yeah. And Victor was always one of my favorite
21:45
people to work with. Um, you know, Steven and I had a really
21:50
special dynamic. Um, just cuz we were so different and brought very different
21:56
things to the table like we were just talking about. So, that was I don't know. It was it was always fun to work
22:01
with different people and we had a lot of great guest stars, a lot of really talented actors who've also
22:06
continued to go on and do their own thing and become even bigger than the show. They were the show with us. Um we
22:13
had we were really lucky to work opposite a lot of really talented people which I think just made our show even
22:20
better. I think so much of our show, like yes, the Barry and Iris dynamic and the Star Labs dynamic is really great,
22:26
but so much of our show was the villains and the guest stars who made every episode worth like tuning into. So, I
22:33
mean, we just had an arsenal of actors. I just got to go say hi to Michael
22:39
Ironside, who we had as Snark's dad, and I hadn't seen him since we shot that episode. Um, so I went and said hi to
22:46
him cuz he was one that we had on where I was like, "Holy crap, we had Michael Ironside.
22:52
We had Mark Hamill." Yeah. Yeah. L Trey, I mean, it's crazy some of the people we have on the show.
22:58
Actually, it's a great segue to my next question. Uh, you had a number of great appearances. The one that surprised me
23:05
was in fact Mark Ho because not only was he playing a villain on your show, but it was the same villain that he had
23:11
played in the original series of Flash Trickster. Any fans of the Trickster?
23:19
Uh, what do you most remember from those shoots? And what's something that really surprised you from working with Mark?
23:24
Um, he was in like intense kind of like I mean he was he's a really nice guy and then after that first episode though I
23:31
was like wo he's like kind of intense. like he was he was in that jail cell and
23:36
I mean I will fast forward since then like I I saw I I know who he really is
23:41
and his warm side and he's just like this sweet guy who's been in the industry for a really long time and has
23:48
seen it all and it's just kind of a family guy and a really nice guy. But my
23:53
first experience with him was like a scene we were shooting with Jesse and I at um Iron Heights and he was in this
24:00
cell and he was like put himself in lotus position on this chair and was like pacing and talking to himself and I
24:08
don't know if he was nervous or just like really in character cuz I just remember him not like small talking a
24:13
lot and like really being focused on what he was going to do and the scene he was shooting was like intense. He was
24:19
like playing this like maniacal crazy person in the scene and it was the first time we were introducing him on our
24:25
show. So I was just like I didn't know I was just like I'm about to work with Luke Skywalker. And like I was like so
24:31
excited. And then also this is the same guy that gifts Jesse Martin a lightsaber
24:36
and signs it your friend Mark Hamill. May the force be with you cuz like Jesse was so excited. So, like he's the
24:43
coolest, nicest guy and he's just like a really good actor that um you know takes
24:50
it seriously and that day he was shooting an intense scene. So, I was just like wo it was kind of my first
24:56
thought. He was kind of channeling his uh Joker. So, I'm like this is the closest we're
25:02
ever going to get to Mars like live action. Yeah. Uh let's see here. Somebody wants to
25:08
know name. It's okay. Uh, Swinn wants to know, who are some people who have inspired you?
25:15
I mean, my mom. Uh, I think I got my work ethic from my mom. Um,
25:25
I mean, there's so many actors that have inspired me, but I mean feel like that's
25:30
a long list. I feel like in life, my mom, my wife, I mean, my my kids even
25:35
like I feel like I don't know, my my Yeah. my family mostly I feel.
25:41
Yeah, I would say the same. I feel like uh you know everyone gets a certain legs
25:46
up in life and I think one of the biggest legs up I had was having the parents that I had who supported my
25:52
dreams endlessly. Um and that's definitely a a
25:58
a privilege for sure. Um you know I have a son now or a mom and that has
26:04
reignited me in a in a way. It's like I'm more passionate about going back to acting because I I want him to see me
26:10
working. I want him to know that his mom cares about something and is passionate about something. And then um as far as
26:18
actors, you know, I always say Lucille Ball. even like a a received so you know I was so sad like a week and a
26:24
half ago and I didn't know what to do and I was just at home with my mom and I
26:30
just turned on I love Lucy for some reason and I don't know I just watched like three or four episodes and just it
26:36
reminded me like why I love doing what uh I do like she just reminded me like
26:41
as a kid I would just watch tons of episodes of I love Lucy and just her her
26:46
work ethic her talent made me want to be an actor and it just I don't know it's It's like my guilty pleasure making me feel better.
26:52
You know what's interesting is that I would assume there's a lot of folks in here where the Flash is that show for
26:59
us, right? Yeah. We hear that a lot when you guys come to the line.
27:04
I get it. And it's really It makes us I don't know about you, I'm sure, but it makes me feel so good knowing that we
27:11
have such an impact in your lives. Someone was saying like, "How did you feel when they cast the Flash movie and
27:17
you guys were in it?" And I think this happened in like 2014 shortly after our show like the second episode was about to air
27:24
and it was kind of a blow I I I think for some of us and um I just remember being asked about it I think at
27:30
Comic-Con and it just kind of dawned on me like yes it would be great to be a part of the movie but movies come and go
27:36
and we got to be in their living rooms every Tuesday at 8:7 central for 9 years
27:42
like that level of being in your lives with your sons and your daughters
27:48
and all like it's such a family show like we have such a connection with our fans in such a you know beautiful way.
27:55
So I want to try something. So everybody here raise your hand if you've seen the
28:00
entire series through at least twice. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
28:06
Three times, four times. Five times.
28:14
Six times. How many people have seen the show? So many times I can't even count how many
28:20
times you've seen it all the way through. There you go. God bless you guys.
28:25
[Applause] Easier than wearing the costume.
28:31
[Music] We have uh time for just one more question. Uh and this one kind of is is
28:38
one that I've been thinking about for a long time. Uh, in the series finale, Team Flash defeated Cobalt Blue and all
28:45
the Flash's biggest foes. You saw the birth of Nora and the engagement of Joe and Cecile. How meaningful was it for
28:52
the two of you and the rest of the cast to have the show end the way it did?
29:00
Listen, it's I think hard for a fan or for an actor who's been
29:06
with something for so long to like to be completely satisfied with the way
29:13
something can wrap up. Um, it was bittersweet. Um, and I haven't seen it actually. I
29:21
haven't watched it yet. Um, I'm sure I will at some point. So, yeah, I think it
29:26
was bittersweet. It was time, but it was also bittersweet. And I know that like I
29:32
mean the last time we worked together was Norah's birth. Um, so that was
29:37
really special to get to finish on that. Um, and that is something that I I
29:42
wanted to see happen in the final season. Um, and that was a really funny
29:47
day. It was really emotional day. It was so emotional. I I told Candace, we've talked about
29:53
this story now. So, I told Candace uh the baby was, you know, it was a birth scene, so the baby was naked. Um, and I
30:00
said, "Oh god, I forgot about that." Yeah. I was like, "You're going to get peed on, just so you know." Uh cuz at this point my daughter was
30:08
I don't know at least one when the show Yeah cuz yeah she was one and a half I think when the
30:14
show finished something like that. Um and I knew I'm like there's a background like that that's just you're going to
30:20
get beat on and she was what? No. And she got beat on and like it was
30:27
hilarious and it was during the tape basically and we're laughing through
30:33
tears. Yep. And it's like I'm sure parts of that moment are like in the episode and it was my last day working on the
30:39
show. I was like I was like this is just so perfect for me. Just a nice send off
30:45
feels so right. Felt right. Yeah. It was really emotional. It was really emotional and I felt like it was
30:51
a perfect way to end my run on the show. giving birth to know Nora and having Grant there and having Jesse Martin
30:57
there was really like just the icing on the cake for me because that's really like where I started on the show and so
31:04
I was just glad that that was my final day. I also got it was weird because I
31:10
got I think some fans know that we had to change parts of that script cuz I you know this was two years into co and I
31:16
had not gotten it and I got co like a week and a half before we wrapped and I
31:22
kept testing positive and couldn't come back to work. Um and I missed ended up
31:27
some of it they reworked so we shut down for a day or two and then they reworked some of it and I I missed like 3 or 4
31:35
days of filming at least. Um, like I was supposed to be in the scene with the prosthetic scar makeup with all the bad
31:42
guys when it was sabotaging the suit. That was supposed to be me as savvatar. And there was other stuff that happened
31:49
too. And my stunt double shots and stuff and they shot around me. So my last day of work was alone on a green screen. Um,
31:57
so which was like it also felt right. Like it was kind of heartbreaking, but I was like I also spent so much time in this
32:05
suit on green screen talking to nobody. Um so it felt right. And the last shot
32:12
we I shot was the last shot of the series that of Barry running and then
32:17
yeah pushing in on him just looking satisfied. Um and that was that was a
32:23
cool last shot to get. Well, on that note, I want the both of you to know
32:28
this has been an absolute dream come true for me. So, thank you so much. Thank you for being here. Thanks for
32:34
coming to San Antonio. Y'all make some noise.
32:43
[Applause]
