hi everybody It's so nice to see you I hate mix chairs You know I I was a
0:07
little disappointed to see that these would be the chair I mean I'm not complaining but it's fine And a long
0:12
skirt I just I just short I've done the short skirt before and didn't like it I know it's dangerous It's dangerous And
0:19
sometimes when you see yourself afterwards like in a in a photo or a video I'm like "Oh no."
0:25
Yeah I mean yeah Sh You look wonderful Oh thank you Wonderful Are you excited
0:31
for the weekend very excited for the weekend It's my first con
0:39
Is this your first con panel yeah I mean we did ComicCon in San Diego when we
0:45
were doing Bones Yes But it was a different kind of thing to do that you
0:51
know with the network and the studio and all that This is on my own here So I'm
0:56
really excited
1:01
Will you have a chance to go wander the floor over the weekends do you think well I just walked through the floor
1:07
just now and get here It was pretty cool to look at everything but I I if I have a chance I would love to I might go and
1:14
wander and look around Do you have recommendations i saw they were selling hoverboards Oh for
1:22
Back to the Future There's a Back to the Future cast reunion Yeah Yes And so somebody had one in their backpack and I
1:28
thought "Oh that would look really good in my bathroom." Just that's what that's what you wanted
1:34
Yeah Just you know you're just sitting on the toilet looking at hoverboard That's the flavor of it Does it actually
1:41
work sadly not Then you might as well put on the wall What was it when you
1:47
were growing up because obviously this is a safe space for nerds and people who love pop culture and things When you
1:54
were growing up what is it that you loved in order to stay
1:59
well when it comes to TV shows there was a TV show called Square
2:05
One If anyone remembers this TV show it was a math television show on PBS and I
2:10
was obsessed with it So I guess it's pretty nerdy That was my favorite show growing up Um and then
2:17
what else was I into i don't know Well I mean I was into architecture and things like that but but the TV show that I
2:23
loved was Square One but probably no one remembers that show but it was very fun
2:28
math show that had a mystery at the end of every episode called Matt Dent And
2:36
they would solve mysteries with a calculator instead of a gun And so I
2:42
really they had a holster and they got the calculator in it and they measure things and it was um it was really fun
2:50
So that was my first intro to mysteries But yeah I love how dorky it sounds Yeah
2:56
it sounds very dorky And it was and I loved it Yeah And you were into architecture as as well when you were I
3:02
don't know why I mean I was like the kid who got a Barbie but I wanted to build her a house so I built her a house you
3:08
know That was the interesting thing to me But I love that No I used to collect
3:14
my kind of It wasn't architecture or that show with the calculator but it was
3:19
not had it where you grew up No we didn't No we didn't have that where I grew up We had really weird Scottish
3:25
programs that were Scottish Um where you probably would understand what we were
3:31
saying Probably not No this is my I can understand you so far But yeah when I left home my mother said to me "You must
3:37
pronounce all your ST's or you'll never get hired." Okay you go Good advice Good
3:43
advice You guys get the posh version Let's talk about bones Yeah
3:49
bones Now we do have fan questions momentarily
3:56
I will let the fans ask all the questions they want but I'm really interested in the fact that you learned
4:01
how to take off gloves properly and do all these weird things on the show How do you take gloves off properly i saw
4:07
you talk Oh Oh I probably talked about somewhere Yeah I mean that became a special skill I learned that so
4:15
silly Pinch the outside of the glove and remove the one side And then with your
4:20
bare hand you can go inside the other glove and take them off So you're not contaminating you're not touching any of
4:27
the contaminants Got it Do you do that when you're wearing gloves no but I do think about contamination because we
4:35
work So like if I have a cup that has a top on it I never turn it that way and
4:41
put it on because that's where you know you twist your mouth to it So I I I don't know It may may have given me OCD
4:46
to work on bones I don't know myself cuz I always wonder about that as an actor
4:51
you know you're not only learning about the character and being a great storyteller but you're learning all
4:57
these strange things along the way So like in terms of your other roles are
5:02
there any other skills i mean that was the longest job I did So
5:10
um probably I learned the most I mean I learned a lot about the skeletal system on bones I learned how to take off I
5:18
learned about contamination Um trying to play other roles What I've learned I mean I've learned probably something
5:24
from every role you know doing research and things for different um characters
5:30
um and worlds Um is there something you took from bones that you use now in your
5:37
everyday life i'm wondering I mean it's handy to know about contamination and things Yeah which is great but like I'm
5:44
wondering if you took anything for that I mean maybe I'd like to say that I'm not so queasy or you know squeamish I
5:50
guess is the better word Um with gross things but then if it's my own child I'm
5:56
not okay with my children uh cut open his
6:01
chin and uh I thought I would be great They had to hold him We were He was like
6:07
a toddler tried to hold him down while they were stitching him up and then I just started to faint I did not do well
6:14
But my go my boyfriend my husband for a long time he's been my husband but all
6:19
of a sudden he's my boyfriend now he's been maybe that's a good thing
6:26
Um he and I both thought I would be really good with the with the sewing up but nope Nope That was not good That was
6:33
not good So I mean I think with other kids I'm not so squeamish and I think I got that from Bones but um but not
6:39
within my own children not with my own kids and Bones ran for such a long time
6:46
Yeah What do you think makes a program like that a show like that so watchable
6:52
what is it that people you think really connected to there i think Hart Hansen who created the show wrote some great
6:59
characters Um and you know great world to live in I
7:06
think it had something for everyone I mean it's hard for me to fully answer but now that there's been time and I'm doing the Rewatch podcast I'm looking
7:12
back at the show and I'm trying to reflect on it and I think that um you
7:18
know a huge part is the writing Hart Hansen did such an incredible job of
7:23
creating these characters in this world and writing this great dialogue between the characters It's the actors bringing
7:31
them to life of course too But I the show had so much So if you like dead bodies if you like gross things we got
7:39
it If you like a mystery we got that too If you like characters and like you are
7:44
rooting for Booth and Brennan to get together and you like that romance we got that That was a big
7:50
one That's number one Um we got that We got um all kinds of things So all
7:58
different interesting quirky characters and um and relationships Um but I think
8:05
it starts with the writing Yeah Always I I love that you do the podcast though
8:11
and I've watched quite a few episodes and it's just so wonderful to watch you
8:16
reminisce and go back How does it feel doing the podcast now like it's it seems
8:21
fun It's wild I'm really enjoying it I'm doing the podcast with Carla Gallow who played Dy Wick on the show who was a one
8:29
of the squid interns Uh we became friends I'm still friends with pretty much everyone on the show But um we're
8:36
doing a rewatch podcast looking back and so it's just fun to be with my friend and you know she can say what were you
8:42
think cuz she came in season 4 so she can be like what were you thinking with those belts why did you wear those ugly
8:48
belts and we can discuss why we made that decision Um but it's wild for me
8:54
because it's so long ago now that um it was hard it's always been hard for me to watch myself acting in any part or
9:02
character especially films And now I can watch it and I'm like this is pretty good This is bad This is not a bad show
9:10
Um so that's been really fun um for me And I mean you know we got into the we
9:17
started season 2 now and we're at the point where I'm I'm looking at an episode and I'm watching myself do
9:23
something that I have no memory of myself doing but clearly I did that thing cuz there it's on screen and I'm
9:31
watching right now So that's been wild as well So it's been um it's been a fun
9:36
ride because you can't that's true You can't possibly remember every single
9:42
thing and of course fans will connect to certain moments Yes Yes Does that s do
9:49
you get a bit shocked by that sometimes and go oh no I don't really remember that episode or I don't really remember
9:54
I mean yeah that does happen where people remember certain things that I don't remember Uh no I just feel bad if
10:00
I can't remember I want to remember everything I feel like I have a fairly good memory but I don't remember every
10:05
single thing that I did on the show nor anything that I nor every line that I said but um you know I remember a
10:13
certain amount But people can remind me you know people can remind me where it came from if I don't remember a quote
10:19
But yeah um it's always nice to hear that the show touched someone in real life you know So I love hearing it I'm
10:26
sure you're going to hear a lot of that this I probably will definitely which is really nice because I feel like for
10:33
actors if you're if you're doing voice or you're in studio you don't really get
10:38
to see the reaction It's not like live Yeah But this is like a physical
10:44
manifestation of the love that people feel Well it's great to interact with people who are fans who watch it But
10:50
it's true We worked so hard for 12 years working crazy hours and you know but
10:56
really having not not having great opportunities to connect with the people
11:01
who are watching the show So it's like you like you said it's not live theater It's not a sitcom where you you know if
11:08
a joke doesn't work if people aren't laughing or if it does work if people laugh So we didn't have that direct
11:15
experience with our audience So that's one of the big reasons I'm here When you
11:21
go back and you're doing the the re-watching of the episodes so when I look back at say old work that I've done
11:28
there's some things I look at and I think I do a weird thing with my face or my voice changes there But then beyond
11:35
that sometimes I think no my skills are better now Obviously I get better through time and I'm a bit hard on
11:40
myself Do you look back upon yourself like that and go I could have acted that in a slightly different way i mean it
11:47
can happen but I I mostly felt feel that way when I w if I ever watch myself acting but now with the it taking place
11:55
so long ago I don't feel that way if I watched it right after I'd be like ah why did I do that now I just look back
12:01
and like oh it's nice look at me I love that oh this is just it just
12:10
looks fun Yeah this is funny I think sometimes I have to edit things of my own face and I'm just kind oh my god
12:16
don't do this Don't do that Like I'm like just you got to be kinder with yourself That's I think I've learned that with age and that's one reason why
12:23
it's easier to watch is you just you know got to be kinder with to ourselves I wanted to talk about Devil
12:30
in Ohio Oh yeah Um I was watching an interview with you where you said that
12:35
there's three words that describe on Netflix Oh yeah yeah yeah Ominous
12:41
psychological satanic Yeah Was that just for you so when we were shooting this
12:47
was the Netflix um limited series that I did about a girl who escapes from a cult
12:54
like a teenager It's based on a true story I mean it's inspired by a true
12:59
story is what I guess the language is Um a teenage girl who escapes from a cult
13:04
Her psychiatrist brings her home to live with her family and it just ruins things and I play the psychiatrist And um while
13:11
we're filming you know you have Netflix and you always have the three words that describe a show on Netflix So sitting
13:17
around on set I be like "Guys what do you think words are going to be?" And I think we came up with ominous um psychological Well we did we
13:26
came up with different things but then when I went to look for it on my Netflix
13:32
it didn't say what were what were the ominous was it psychological psychological maybe I didn't think of
13:37
ominous but I didn't think of psychological I'm going to say psychological and um so I I said ominous
13:44
psychological satanic and I was like oh my god no one
13:50
is going to watch this show it says it's satanic that's insane So I complained
13:56
when I said they need to remove the satanic because there is a satanic component in it Like the show is not
14:03
satanic but there is a character who escapes from a satanic cult Sounds wonderful when I describe it but it
14:09
isn't too um but um and I complained and they said well
14:14
that's personal to you They describe it in a way they think will be appealing to
14:20
you So they think that I want to watch satanic things and so there you go I
14:27
mean I was horrified and yet there that was for me I guess other people might get
14:32
psychological teenage teenager I don't know what they get Psychological algorithmic is algorithmic
14:40
Oh yeah So I guess I'm like really into satanic stuff
14:45
Well I wanted to ask what your three personal words would be to describe yourself if you if it was just you or a
14:54
Netflix show Just Emily's show Your three personal words be
14:59
okay Um creative
15:05
Okay Um empathic sometimes to fault
15:12
Um and weird Maybe goofy Weird I like Yeah not satanic Not satanic I wouldn't
15:18
like that word Not sat but I guess I'm into it I like that I like that I like
15:24
goofy as well Yeah I like that I But the I'm just imagining you like watching the
15:30
calculators Oh yeah Nerd I mean nerdy nerdy you know dorky nerdy is part of that too There's a reason why I was
15:36
chosen to blame Love it I love I think they knew they just threw Did you know when you were We
15:43
know that this kid was watching calculator We have a feeling Is that a calculator
15:49
in your pocket or are you just pleased to see us did you Did you know though
15:55
when you stepped into the audition and then and did or sent something did you know did you have a
16:02
good feeling about it do you think i never have a good feeling about anything I'm so I don't No I did not I mean I
16:09
wouldn't say I felt bad like I came in and felt like I came what I did want you know intended to do But with an audition
16:15
you do that a hundred times and it's not necessarily what they're looking for And that's fine I just I go in to please
16:21
myself and I knew I'd done Sometimes your nerves get in the way and you don't
16:27
do what you intend to do in you know when you're practicing at home And so I was just okay I went in and did what I
16:34
meant to do And it felt good in that regard but it didn't feel like I was like I nailed that I'm getting this part
16:40
That was not how I felt when I came to audition but it felt good I got to audition My first audition was just on
16:45
my own And then I auditioned with Dave Morianis And it was a good good chemistry between us So it felt it felt
16:52
good but it wasn't like I thought I nailed it I'm on fire I'm on fire I
16:58
nailed that I guess it's hard to get into that creative flow state I think they call it when you're like athletes
17:04
feel that where you're just almost like not really paying too much attention You're just flowing You're in the zone
17:11
You're in the zone That's I think I think too much and I'm like picking up
17:17
all the little things cuz I'm a perfectionist So I'm like like everything has to be just bad I'm Libra so like everything Oh what was your
17:25
birthday 12 or 11 12th Oh we're very close Check it out Almost twins Almost
17:32
perfect Almost Are any Libras in the house perfect Great You guys are all You guys
17:38
are all great Oh wonderful We don't need balance We're Libras We're Libras I'm going to play a little game of this or
17:44
that Okay Um and then we're going to go to the fan questions Okay Great If you're good with that Okay Okay So this
17:49
or that What is this or that uh you just choose one of the things I know Oh okay Oh okay Okay Okay
17:55
So out of these two TV series longevity or film variety which would you rather i
18:03
mean I guess I have to choose TV series
18:09
longevity Okay Period piece or sci-fi thriller i might pick period piece
18:16
Period piece Also I have like zoomed up these things so far cuz I look I can't
18:22
see anything No I'm I'm the same way Are you with Are you with my You You get to a point where
18:29
you can't move your arm far enough away and then it gets too far and then Yeah I
18:37
need the glass This is the ghost of Christmas future Large large print Super
18:42
super large Philosophy podcast or true crime true crime podcast 100% Logic
18:49
puzzle or improv game probably improv game I'd be better at
18:55
that Okay And scripted drama or documentary voice over am I doing it or
19:01
am I doing it oh I'm doing it I do scripted drama because I get to do more than just a voice over because with a
19:08
documentary voice over you also don't you're not acting as a it's a different skill but you know scripted drama I
19:14
don't need to explain it all Yeah I'll just get answer Love that Okay All right
19:20
We're close for the first part of this panel [Applause]
19:25
question All right my gorgeous people There is a mic just here and then there's a mic right over there Uh
19:32
Felicia they called this one the shade mic Don't worry it was nothing shameful It
19:37
was just cuz it was over here So please make your way Please mind your fellow fans And let's start here cuz you're
19:44
over at the site Hello What's your name my friend my name is Daniel Welcome to FX Thank you Daniel Um I love bones And
19:52
I'm sure all these lovely people will ask you about bones I have a question about Spider-Man
19:57
Okay We got a Batman shirt on Asking about Spider-Man Spider-Man 2 Yes I was
20:03
in it Your character has a lot of attitude I took a reception Was that a
20:09
direction was that how the character was written did you bring some of that what What was your experience kind of like
20:14
doing that in Spider-Man so my experience so I auditioned for Spider-Man 2 for another part and I
20:20
didn't get it And then kind of last minute the day before for filming I was offered this part and it had no lines as
20:27
written And I don't honestly remember what the description was of the character or what it was I think it was
20:35
a a mix I think I came in with that where my that was my idea for that that
20:40
receptionist that play receptionist who uh tells um Spider-Man to well like wait
20:47
this is the funny story my grandpa went to see the movie at the time he's like you are so mean to Spider-Man
20:55
2 like he's not called Spider-Man 2 he's just Spider-Man in the second in the
21:00
sequel um um so I think it was a mix I think it
21:06
was a mix I think I came in with that but then Sam Ramy the director liked a certain amount and took me down in some
21:12
ways and um but it was a lot of fun to film Yeah it was a lot of fun Thank you very much Thank you Let's go over here
21:19
Hello my dear What's your name hi my name is Sarah Um I'm so excited I love
21:24
the books I love the show I pretend the books were written by
21:29
you I read them You What did you say you think the books were back in my left hand well you protect the books I love
21:36
it I love that they're written I did write all those So like you are my kind of thing Um two
21:45
questions One of them what I know you don't remember everything it went on for
21:51
so long but what story line or death did you the most and stuck with you and my
21:57
other one is can y'all please come back for a revival
22:03
um well I think the answer is it's got to be Sweet's death
22:09
That is was so upsetting That was just so upsetting overall to lose the character to lose
22:17
John Francis Dailyaly Um as an actor who's gone I don't know if you guys know but John Francis Daly who played Lance
22:24
Sweets on the show has gone on to be an incredibly successful screenwriter and
22:30
director He did um uh what do you call the lampoons what did he do one of the
22:37
Lampoons yes he did But the more recently now Dungeons and Dragons Thank
22:44
you He did the Dungeons and Dragons movie which is quite good And so he is
22:49
off doing all of those amazing things and he was off directing and that's why they killed him off But it was so
22:56
devastating to lose both the character and the actor So that was I that's
23:01
something I would have ch I would change if I was in charge of it and figured out I would get it back here and there or
23:07
something Um and then yeah you want to know about like a re re that was the
23:12
second question but yeah I mean I don't know if it's possible but I keep an open
23:18
mind We will we'll see I don't know Thank you Yeah Thank you
23:26
Hello friend What's your name brena I'm thrilled to see you Thank you
23:31
for being here But there's a holiday episode of Bones where different is introduced to a distant family member
23:38
who looks a lot like you Yes my sister Zoe Yeah Could you share
23:44
how that came about um I don't remember who idea it was
23:51
Um but yeah I wish I could remember how I mean I think my sister said she was
23:57
open to it in some way and then Hart Hansen the creator of the show and showrunner worked to try and write some
24:04
interesting quirky character for her to play And I believe her character is obsessed with Benjamin Franklin and had
24:10
all these Benjamin Franklin quotes Um yeah that was also very fun I never got
24:16
to do a New Girl episode so doesn't seem fair but
24:24
Exactly Thank you Thank you Thank you very much You're welcome Thanks Let's go
24:30
over here Hello my friend What's your name laura Hi Laura Um why did you call Dr Missouri dr
24:39
or something You called him everybody else Yeah I was trying to pronounce it
24:45
as close to the Farsy pronunciation as I could And not everyone does that but I
24:51
would always pee Badak who played the character I check in with him and I would practice it before So I
24:59
mean I can't say that it's exactly the right pronunciation but I was doing it as close as I could to that I figured Dr
25:07
Brennan would try to have the correct pronunciation being that she's also a cultural anthropologist and been around
25:14
the world And so Baziti Dr Baziti
25:19
Thank you Thank you Thank you Let's go right here Hello friend What's your name
25:25
my name is Adam Hi Adam Hi Emily Um have you ever asked your boyfriend/husband
25:33
to write you on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia i mean
25:39
I I feel like I've mentioned like I'm not doing
25:44
anything I'd love to do a character I mentioned it He works on the show Mythic
25:50
Quest It's now been cancelled but I've mentioned it more recently for that show
25:55
but it's not happened and now it's sadly over But maybe maybe uh next season of
26:00
It's Always Sunny Maybe What character would you want to play oh my god I mean
26:06
I could play Rickety Cricket's girlfriend not wife
26:14
Thank you I love right up to the mic please What's your name my name is Natasha Hi Natasha
26:23
Um nice to meet you Nice to meet you Pleasure to have you here So what words
26:28
would Tim have for the new uh it's been 20
26:35
years It's the 20 year anniversary of Owens which seems crazy And I grew up watching it and a lot of science shows
26:41
and it really I work in the medical field I'm a nurse So amazing And uh what
26:46
words would she have for younger you know aspiring those like in like
26:52
anthropology coal or any kind of science i mean that's a lot to put on me I did
26:59
not write the show Uh I mean I think she say
27:04
perseverance perseverance perseverance because that's something I think is
27:09
great advice for anyone starting out in their life no matter what career they're in Um uh you know she would encourage to
27:18
people to have objectivity and to not be um you know
27:24
not let emotions get in the way of what they're doing and um and to focus on the
27:30
work That's my guess That seems that seems like much like your answer
27:37
Thank you so much Thank you my dear Hello my lovely What's your name hello
27:43
I'm Christina Um I absolutely love Bones like everybody in here But um I wanted
27:49
to know do you have a personal favorite episode that you filmed or a favorite
27:55
memory from filming Bones okay So so far watching the show I did
28:03
not remember it as a favorite episode but now it is a favorite episode which is
28:10
um is the Christmas episode from season one I can't now remember the M No not
28:16
the Mel Man shelter Thank you for checking I
28:23
mean you guys know more than I do I've now watched all these episodes Um I also love the alien Aliens in a or aliens in
28:30
a spaceship too Um so those are two favorite episodes of mine Um but I mean
28:37
there's a lot there's a lot uh and there's a lot that I really love that aren't those two but I'll just say that
28:44
And then favorite memories I mean any Friday night into
28:49
Saturday morning we we call Saturday on TV shows happens when you work late into
28:56
the night and you just and and you end up getting real loopy and TJ Stein who
29:02
played Hajins and Tamara Taylor who played Cam Soyan would be the goofiest
29:09
giggliest of two people and I'd be like trying to focus
29:14
trying not to laugh you guys come on come on stop laughing and then we'd all
29:20
end up laughing so I'd say it's more of a general memory But that happened many times where we all that And then maybe
29:27
second would be singing show tunes with Eric Milligan We played Zach Annie We
29:32
sang the entire the entire musical of Annie together on set They did not appreciate
29:40
that We got talked to about it But we had a great time Thank you Thank
29:48
you Okay Hello my friend bring the mic up because I think it's too too small
29:53
too short for a lot of people My name is Gwen Hi And Love Bones Love your podcast
30:01
Thanks But my question is about uh Animal Kingdom Oh okay How did that come
30:07
about and did you enjoy that character or was it hard for you to play someone kind of
30:13
pitiful yes The answer is yes It was both I really
30:19
enjoyed playing the character It was such a departure after playing Temperance Brennan for so long After we
30:24
finished Bones I was kind of like don't talk to me about acting Don't even say acting the word acting to me And then
30:31
two years passed and then this came out Um uh John Levy the casting director I had
30:38
auditioned for you know years before for different things And I guess they thought of me out of the blue for this
30:44
character that I I mean I so appreciate that they thought of me for this character because as a recovering addict
30:50
who's just come out of prison who's struggling with her soiety and struggling with uh some questionable
30:58
choices sometime she we don't know exactly what Angel's up to Um uh but I had a lot of
31:05
um fun playing the character I had a lot of compassion for the character and I really but I got it was also hard It was
31:11
a hard character to play cuz she was going through a lot and also she's like
31:17
manipulative kind of it was it was really fun though in a lot of ways but you gave her a lot of jokes Oh thank you
31:25
Thank you Thank you my friend Thank you Let's go over here This this is the
31:30
cutest looking meager Okay we're we're still going to pay attention to you Yes
31:37
What is your name hi Um my name is Denise and I am an all-time favorite fan
31:43
of I watch all the episodes all the time It doesn't matter reruns all the time Um
31:49
I was going to ask you what your favorite episode was but unfortunately that question was already asked So well
31:56
you got to hear it for free So now you got a bonus question Yeah Um so I was
32:02
wondering now throughout Bones there was a lot of um throughout the different episodes there's a lot of different
32:09
things that have kind of occurred that happened in real life you know it's like I know um Cely dealt with gambling
32:16
addiction and you know there was also racism that was also dealt in some of it
32:21
And um I was wondering how you know any of those episodes just kind of shaped
32:26
your viewpoint or if it changed anything Um you know with just any of the
32:32
experiences it's I really enjoyed a lot of a lot of the episodes but it it
32:37
touched on a lot of different things that actually happen out in the real world So yeah I thought you were actually going to say because we did a
32:43
couple episodes that predicted things that happened in the future which was really crazy They might have already happened before they aired but for
32:50
instance there's an episode about an earthquake that happened in DC And I
32:56
remember reading it thinking "This is preposterous There's never going to be an earthquake in DC." And then there was
33:02
an earthquake in DC like a month later So I I stopped questioning Um in terms
33:08
of that I mean I think there was one episode that I think of that was about a trans character and I I a trans victim
33:14
and so I don't want to speak about it because I haven't watched it since we did it but I I remember
33:21
um thinking that it was handled well but I I need to watch for the p for the
33:26
rewatch podcast because some episodes I'm not necessarily surprised but I'm I
33:31
I don't feel like some things have as much sensitivity as I would like But um I remember um you know appreciating that
33:40
representation I guess I would say Yeah I would like to say thank you for being here and for bones and I really hope you
33:46
guys reboot it Thank you
33:51
Hello my friend What's your name my name's Britain Uh I grew up watching
33:57
Bones with my family actually and we were my sister and I my younger sister
34:02
and I were recently re-watching some of season 1 and we were re-watching the
34:08
episode in Washington I believe with the bear Oh yeah The man and the bear Yes
34:16
And we were watching through that and at the end there's just a tiny little scene
34:21
with Brennan and Booth where Bren Booth is trying to eat his breakfast and then
34:27
is like I don't want to eat this steak and then Brennan's like have some have some corn flakes And my sister and I
34:34
were kind of like was that an improv moment and even if you don't remember that one specifically were there any
34:41
improv moments that either you improd or somebody else did that you really enjoyed it's so funny you mentioned that
34:48
That was an improv moment as far as I recall cuz I looking at that I kind of remember and it it just was that kind of
34:55
a moment and I didn't watch it that long ago because we've been re-watching them for the podcast So um I can say that I'm
35:03
almost positive that is an improv Yes especially the end scenes between Booth and Brandon David and I So I don't know
35:10
when it really took hold but uh at a certain point all the episodes basically
35:16
had like a sweet kind of scene between Booth and Brennan It was just them and
35:21
and we would just be kind of talking back and forth and usually we would have room for improv there So I'd say
35:27
definitely there and then some other places as well We would definitely improv but I say the majority of the
35:32
show was scripted But the end scenes especially as we got into a groove and had those special end scene just between
35:40
the two characters we we definitely did a lot of information improvisation
35:45
It was a very fun scene that really stuck with me after watching it So thank you Thank you
35:52
Hello my friend What's your name my name is Kaylee It's lovely to meet you
35:58
Really big fan of Bones cuz I grew up watching it I think I started watching it in like fourth grade with my mom So I
36:04
actually really wanted to be a forensic anthropologist I'm not going down that route but it's still something that
36:10
sorry still something that is very baby to me Um I think my question is who do
36:17
you who was your like all-time favorite intern
36:27
i mean Sophie's choice I'm just going to say Betty White
36:39
Thank you Thank you very much Hello my dear What's your name hi my name is Sarah Hi Sarah Hi Um I wanted to ask you
36:48
I'm a huge fan of Bones but I'm also a massive City Locker fan What was it like
36:53
to work with her same Wait what was it so did you say the question you said you worked with her I
36:59
said "Oh no What was it like to work with?" What was it i mean it's you know No I've been a huge huge Cindy Loer fan
37:06
since I was a girl Um and so like I
37:12
would have to pinch myself every day when I got to work with her She's
37:17
hilarious Just hilarious and um she's a joy to work with and so much fun and um
37:26
yeah I mean it it was uh one of the best things about doing
37:31
Bones was getting to work with Symper Yeah thank you That was the theme I thought for years
37:39
She's she lives up to the dream She lives up to the dream She's amazing Yeah
37:44
Thank you Hello my friend What is your name so you're going have to crunch down Yeah that's okay Uh my name is Sammy Hi
37:51
Sammy Hi Emily Hi How are you good How are you good Thank you Um I'm here
37:57
because of my lovely and talented wife Brandy Uh she basically made me watch
38:03
your show Uh I'm so sorry I'm so sorry Every
38:09
rerun and uh it's great Thank you Uh so without getting too personal I know
38:14
Brian you and I have a relationship uh you and uh your co-star obviously did
38:20
that uh had a relationship on the show Um who's the better kisser
38:26
who's the better kisser between me and David Bianis I mean it's a
38:33
man of a kiss I mean it's really hard for me to assess
38:39
how good of a kiss are Honestly they do
38:48
Thank you for your question Uh hello my dear What is your name uh I'm Jillian Hi Jillian I grew up
38:56
watching films with my mom and stuff I'm 13 so I wasn't able to like watch at all with her but I have watched a lot
39:05
Um my big question is in Hodge's office with all of the like liquids and the
39:12
bones and stuff like how are those made and stuff like what are all the liquids and everything you mean the ukie room we
39:18
called it yeah Um you know I think that a lot of
39:25
the things in that room were real There's things in formaldahhide that looked very real and we were never going
39:32
to open them cuz we didn't want to find out But there were a lot of weird specimens of different kind of animals
39:40
and things that um I didn't want to know what is really going on Um if that's
39:46
what you mean Like the things in the background that were you know the jars that we're talking about Yeah Yeah I
39:52
think they might have been real And like all the bones too like no the bones were
39:58
not real I get that question a lot And I will say it would be really expensive to
40:04
use actual bones Um we had um guys that we were they were the Jagger brothers
40:10
but not all of them were Jerger Brothers but we just called everyone Jagger Brother Um Chris and Kevin Joerger Um
40:18
they made all of our dead bodies and they're incredible And they would do all
40:24
of it that they'd make the bones that look so real and they would do fleshy bodies that look real and they would do
40:31
all the goo the corpse gravy as we like to call it Taylor coined that phrase the
40:38
corpse gravy They would do all of the things that had to do the bodies and then other people would put the bugs on
40:44
top of them and stuff but they were those were not those were not real dead bodies
40:51
What about the bugs the bugs were real Oh
40:56
That was that didn't bother I'm not I don't think about bucks but um Tamara Taylor who played Cam Zeroy that was an
41:03
adjustment for I'm sure it's okay for me to say she had to adjust had to talk you know give her back talk when she first
41:11
started to work with the bugs but yeah thank you very much for your
41:16
hello there friend what's your name Hi my name is Lauren Hi Lauren um I just
41:22
kind of have more of statement I just really wanted to thank you for being an inspiration as a woman in science for me
41:30
to watch and be you know look up to and
41:35
um also portraying a character that is neurodeivergent and watching her get to
41:44
have a relationship and a family and evolve in her own neurode divergence and
41:52
adjust um was really inspiring to watch as somebody who's also neurode divergent
41:58
and you definitely were an inspiration for me getting into a scientific field myself Um I work with exotic animals
42:06
veterinary science and I love taking inspiration from I think Brennan would
42:15
look at things scientifically and objectively as as you said earlier So just thank you for that Thank you so
42:22
much That's my favorite thing to hear is some is a young woman going into science being inspired by the characters on
42:29
Bones We had three main and plus other characters who were women incredible
42:35
women who were working in science And I just love being a part of a show that had powerful smart women in the science
42:44
field Um and a character that we never really talked about but who was neurode
42:50
divergent i'm neurody divergent I have ADHD And um so I love I mean we never
42:57
really talked about that but it's something we talked about I talked about with heart And I love that people can
43:02
recognize that about her and also be inspired by that as well And um so thank
43:08
you That's like my favorite thing to hear Thank you for that
43:15
and love your name Hello I'm Grace Hi Grace Hello Uh so first of all my um
43:22
sister-in-law sister-in-law and I are huge fans and my three-year-old nephew
43:27
loves his favorite thing So he was very jealous to hear
43:32
that Dr Jeff Brennan Um but my question was when you guys started the show did
43:38
you guys have any inkling that it would go on as long as it did no not at all
43:44
when we started you know I'd done a couple pilots before Um and I was just excited
43:51
I got picked up for like 12 episodes when it started And when we started this
43:57
you know working on the show for the season I remember sitting around with cast saying I mean this could go for
44:04
three years Like that seemed like the longest time it could ever last for So
44:11
not at all like and that seemed insane to be three years So you know I had no clue that my whole life would change for
44:18
someone that I would spend my entire 30s that I was you know started out single and I was be married with two children
44:24
by the time I finished the show Um I had no no clue at all Yeah Thank you so much
44:30
Thank you Emily you're running out of time I want to go through all speed
44:36
round Yeah speed round Same question Okay Hi my name is Evelyn and I have a question When you were acting on these
44:43
sets throughout all the episodes has there ever been a time where you would disgusted and what was going on and what
44:48
you were looking at yeah I mean I got pretty desensitized but I remember one day there was an episode I think it's
44:54
the first season cuz I think we already covered it where I put my hand in a a
45:00
hand glove like the like the skin of a hand We rehydrate the skin of a hand and
45:06
I put my hand in it I could not eat my breakfast that morning
45:12
Thank you Thank you Name and question Hi I'm Taylor Hi Taylor Bones is my
45:17
all-time favorite show So it's such a pleasure to have you here I'm wondering what is the most bizarre thing you ever
45:23
had to research for a role cuz I imagine with Bones there may have been some things where you're like did I just end
45:29
up on a watch list the writers probably had to do more than I did in terms of storyline They
45:36
would talk about that thinking that they might like how to dismember a body you
45:42
know how you know how fast does a body decompose in the desert or whatever they
45:47
had to look up Um you know I mean really forensic anthropology in general I had
45:52
to research and I got books and I did what I could and learned a lot about I
45:58
went to the morg um which was an experience I couldn't
46:04
get that smell out of my nose for about a month Um but I don't know for other shows I think bones in general that show
46:12
probably the weirdest research that I did Yeah Thank you Thank you Okay 5
46:18
minutes What's your name hi I'm Aaron Um I actually haven't finished Bones yet So
46:24
it's my first time watching through it My friend Cass convinced me to watch it because we watch basically every other
46:30
procedural that's on TV Um so I was wondering if you could be in any other procedural TV show which one would you
46:36
want to be in oh my goodness Okay I mean
46:41
I am a big Law and Order fan and I Law and Order SVU is my fave and I already
46:47
did an episode of it cuz I did it before I ever did film So I I I guess I'd say
46:53
that but I already did it Trying second choice Huh second choice then I don't know Well I like
47:00
honestly I don't want I don't watch a lot of other of those shows cuz once I started Bones I kind of had no time to
47:08
watch things and now I'm only watching things because I have kids I'm just going to go with you I'm
47:15
sorry Thank you What's your name and question hi I'm Carrie Uh my question is
47:21
if you had the opportunity to play historical figure good person bad person who would you like to play oh Lord
47:28
I mean Margaret me or something I mean
47:34
that's why I think of it from a friend's perspective Um
47:41
who I don't know Guys I mean some queen
47:46
maybe Queen would be fun A queen Some queen
47:52
Some queen is a Thank you Hello friends Damn Hi Hi Emily
47:57
I'm Stacy I did not grow up watching both cuz I'm older than you but that's
48:03
okay Um I teach eighth grade math and I'm wondering if you have any advice for
48:10
to give my students when we start back to school in August Oh my gosh I
48:16
mean do do I have advice or does Brennan have advice because we got someone
48:22
asking Brennan's advice Um I mean I've been studying man Keep working hard You
48:30
got watch the mountain Find the TV show Find the square one TV
48:37
show It's probably for a little younger than 8th grade Um but I've got a son
48:42
going into grade Oh nice So maybe I should think about what I tell him
48:48
for Um you kind of keep working You might not think you have you know use
48:53
for math later on in life but you do I mean there's lots of times when I have to use math and I sometimes I'm kicking
49:01
myself that I don't remember some of the things I learned in my math class and I love math Math is my favorite class you
49:06
might guess It's my favorite subject Well I love to hear that So thank you Thank you for teaching
49:13
math to kids Thank you so much Two minutes People want to do it Okay let's do it
49:19
Speed round Hi mine
49:27
So um how long did it take you to really find your character and well like really
49:33
get into it i mean I think we were trying different things out in the first season So I'd say probably halfway
49:39
through the first season we felt like we're in a more of a groove and we were trying you know we tried different
49:46
things with the character and the show in general Um but I'd maybe say halfway through the first season But what's wonderful about doing a show for a long
49:52
time is the character can grow over time and sometimes slowly but she's still growing So that was fun Yeah Thank you
49:59
And quickly question same question Hi Emily Did you or David either one take
50:05
anything special from the set when it was open i took the plaque that says my name I
50:12
took my name tag Um I have a bone or
50:19
two Um and I can't speak for David but I didn't take the Oh no I had like I got a
50:25
couple jackets Couple coats Thank you I want to make sure everyone
50:32
gets their question Hi my name is Lisa I am also giant fan of bones Wanted to go
50:38
into forensic anthropology Ended up in clinical trials Um and I a mom in
50:44
science and so I'd love to hear your perspective of how becoming a mom and
50:50
how that kind of changed either yourself or your character in the show Oh my gosh
50:56
I mean I think your heart opens up so much more when you have kids Um and so I would say that probably
51:04
happened for both me and Brennan And I think we both probably started looking
51:09
at things a little less black and white and seeing more gray and having a bigger open heart I'm trying to do quick
51:17
answers I can go on longer Maybe if you had more time but this is the last minute Let's go Um did you have fun
51:24
doing the fight scenes at Bones with Booth with Booth or when I would fight other
51:29
people with my martial arts watch the show My mom just asked me to ask
51:37
Thank you for your honesty I did I did martial arts in college I did karate I
51:43
was technically on the karate team I was very beginner but somehow that it didn't matter in my college So I I did enjoy it
51:51
but sometimes it felt like it was unprovoked So I I kind we kind of moved away from it after the beginning seasons
51:59
of the show But I I not love a fight scene Yes I did enjoy it Thank you Thank you Thank you to your mom You've just
52:06
made it What's your question right up to mate Hi Uh my name is Britney and I uh
52:11
was wondering if any of the victim stories when you were filming impacted you in a really big way Oh my
52:17
gosh I mean I Yes Well I will say the thing that
52:22
comes to mind is when we had the the early on in season one we had
52:28
the boy in the bush Um and that just gutted me that was about a kid in foster
52:35
care and he's murdered and it's so horrible to see the tiny bones of a child Like that just felt so horrible
52:42
and wrong It was hard to walk into the room with those bones and not start crying and then the the story line has
52:48
to do with foster care and characters in foster care and abuse in foster care specifically So that that touched me for
52:56
sure and I think a lot of others did too but that's the one that just comes to mind at the top of my head Thank you
53:02
Thank
53:12
you Yes Thank you so much Yes Put your hands together and make a giant noise
53:20
[Applause]
53:29
[Applause] Thank you I made it
