About The Jeweled Bird

The Jeweled Bird tells the story of a young Chinese woman whose life takes a tragic turn when she is sold by her father to settle gambling debts. Arriving in America with dreams of a better life, she finds herself trapped in a world of exploitation and despair, ultimately ending up on the auction block. After ten years, she becomes a brothel madam, determined to rescue her daughter from a similar fate. In her quest, she collaborates with a former adversary to dismantle the powerful forces controlling the sex trade in early 1900s Chinatown. This narrative explores themes of resilience, motherly love, and the fight against oppression.
