Synopsis: The Unexpected Turns in “Can You Keep A Secret?”
Get ready for an unconventional tale of secrets, family drama, and outrageous pensioner antics on “Can You Keep A Secret?”. BBC One’s new production presents “The Vicar of Dibley” star Dawn French as Debbie Fenton – a headstrong granny who forges her own path to keep her family safe. But as the storyline unravels, it soon becomes clear that the one they need protection from is, ironically, herself.
The plot takes a wild spin when Debbie’s seemingly hermit spouse William, portrayed by Mark Heap, is accidentally pronounced dead. This unforeseen turn leads Debbie to concoct a daring scheme that pushes the family’s dynamics to new extremes. The outrageous truth? William is far from dead. Instead, the elderly couple decide to lie low, posing as a widower and the departed, eagerly awaiting a hefty life insurance payout.
In the midst of this crazy escapade, we find the couple’s son Harry, torn between familial obligations, anxiety, and his own newly formed family. Tackling the stresses of ‘normal’ life stages is already daunting, but throw in a surprise and unnecessary reunion with the father he’s just buried, the revelation of his parents’ audacious shenanigans and Harry’s life becomes a rollercoaster ride of jaw-dropping surprises. Unveiling a hilarious and poignant portrayal of family life, “Can You Keep A Secret?” explores the laugh-inducing, convoluted mess of a nuclear family who has suddenly gone rogue.
