Synopsis: The drama follows four members of a suburban garden club — three of them played by Fumero, Robb and Rappaport — all from different walks of life, who get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom. Fumero plays Birdie. Entitled, rich, swathed in Chanel, a smoker, a drinker, self-destructive at times, toxic at others, but not without real pain beneath her facade, Birdie is a successful author whose memoir, Digging for Gold: Dancing Through Divorce, is a bestseller. Robb plays Alice, your favorite high school English teacher, a dreamer whose best dreams are crashing down on her. She’s a longtime member of the Grosse Pointe Garden Society. Rappaport plays Brett. Cool in a threadbare kind of way, Brett put his own dreams of starting a car restoration business on hold so his wife (now ex-wife) could finish law school. He continues his job as a manager of a garden store so he can take care of the kids.
Filming Dates: November 6 – April 7, 2025
Synopsis
Welcome to the vibrant yet unpredictable life of the Grosse Pointe Garden Society, where the soil is rich with secrets and the blooms are anything but ordinary. This compelling drama unfolds in a suburban community, showcasing the lives of four garden club members navigating the intricate interplay of murder and mischief.
At the forefront is Birdie, played by Melissa Fumero, whose glamorous exterior belies deep-seated turmoil. A successful author of the bestselling memoir “Digging for Gold: Dancing Through Divorce,” Birdie is stuck in a cycle of luxury, indulgence, and self-destruction, masking the pain she carries beneath her designer façade.
Joining Birdie is Alice, brought to life by AnnaSophia Robb, the quintessential high school English teacher whose dreams are now precariously balanced on the edge of collapse. As a devoted member of the garden club, Alice’s journey reflects not only her passion for literature but also her struggles with life’s unexpected challenges.
Then there’s Brett, skillfully portrayed by Ben Rappaport, a once-ambitious man who put his dreams of a car restoration business on hold. Now managing a garden store, he juggles his responsibilities to his children while navigating the complexities of his past relationships.
Set against the backdrop of Doraville, GA, this production promises a blend of humor, tension, and heartfelt moments, as these characters cultivate their relationships amidst the chaos of their lives. Mark your calendars for November 6, as the adventure begins and the secrets start to sprout!
