Alicia Ziegler is a talented actress known for her roles in “That 70’s Show” and “Wildfire.” She has appeared in over 50 films and television series, including “NCIS” and “Hawaii Five-0.” With a background in Film Production from Chapman University and an internship at the Cannes Film Festival, Alicia is also a dedicated athlete with an MS in Health and Nutrition Education. Her passion for travel and commitment to charitable causes further highlight her multifaceted career.

1. Starting your career with a role on “That 70’s Show” and moving on to a significant role in “Wildfire,” how did these early experiences shape your approach to acting and your career trajectory?

That 70’s Show allowed me to experience the thrill of a live audience sitcom—rehearsals all week to an audience taping at the end. I had so much fun learning how it all worked, and I think it gave me the ability to not feel sick to my stomach when the time came to do it again for other shows. It also made me love comedy and timing. I could and still do because of it, deeply appreciate how jokes are written.

Then when it came time for WILDFIRE, that experience allowed me to see how I was an artist, in a different state (dealing with a third-degree leg burn; another story for another time), preparing, sleeping, getting to and from set, being responsible to do my job. I had a great rapport with everyone and could see how teamwork could bring a set together. Chiefly, I fell in love with working with directors who were present and helpful, so ever since, I can say I miss the times when they are not.

2. With over 50 films and television series under your belt, including roles on “NCIS” and “Hawaii Five-0,” can you share a particularly memorable moment or challenge you faced on set?

I feel like those exist with every single production. There are highs and lows with each, but if I had to share only one story it would be Lake Placid 2. I did my own falling stunts; I was in a freezing cold rain machine and had to act with a black arrow on the ground as if it were the crocodiles. I had to learn German commands to get my dog Daisy to follow me. It was both challenging and fun.

3. Your education in Film Production at Chapman University and your internship at the Cannes Film Festival with the William Morris Agency are impressive. How have these experiences influenced your work in front of the camera?

I can honestly say that Cannes and working with WMA didn’t impact my work in front of the camera as much as it did behind it. You realize very quickly that this business is just that—BUSINESS. Everyone is looking to rise, rank, or feel significant, respectively. The mere fact I had been chosen to go to Cannes was more exciting to me and taught me that hard work, determination, and faith can get you far.

4. You’ve had the opportunity to travel extensively, including studying abroad in Costa Rica and visiting places like Bulgaria, Spain, and Italy. How have these travels influenced your perspective on storytelling and film?

I wanted to be an actor to travel. So anytime a project shoots somewhere else I’m always chomping at the bit to go and see and explore. I have always been that way and I know that there are characters or takeaways I have from visiting various places around the world that influence that. I also have never taken a shower for granted or food on my table. I have a profound respect when I see parts of the world that do NOT have the privileges we do. So more than in front of the camera, traveling impacts my daily life.

5. As an athlete devoted to health and fitness, completing your MS in Health and Nutrition Education, how do you balance your demanding career with maintaining a healthy lifestyle?

My lifestyle is all by choice. I make it work, whether it’s setting the alarm to get up and workout at 3 am before set, or meal prep, etc. I have always felt that if I can show up feeling good, then hopefully my attitude, my mindset, and my choices can all be sharp. Feeling good and/or looking good just helps exude confidence and since this business can often make you feel judged it’s nice to not put myself in a crisis state of my own doing. Dedication to self and craft is where it’s at for me. Nothing special. I just make a conscientious choice and effort.

6. Your involvement in charitable activities, such as Breast Cancer walks and serving as a counselor for youth at Camp Del Corazon, is inspiring. Can you share what drives your commitment to these causes?

My father was murdered when I was 9, nearly 10, my uncle died of leukemia, plus, I had so many family members pass away that giving back to charity just makes me feel good. Like I am doing something on their behalf of living while I can. I donate platelets at the Children’s Hospital constantly and it’s because I know they need it, so acts of service always seemed like the best way to honor those I’ve lost.

7. Having worked in a variety of genres, from drama to crime series, do you have a favorite genre to work in, or one that you find more challenging than others?

I love it all. I truly do. Every genre offers its challenges and fun deep dive. I do like drama and action, but I am honestly always entertained when comedy lands in my lap and I get to play even more so than I feel you get to with a procedural or whatnot.

8. The entertainment industry is known for its highs and lows. Can you share a piece of advice you’ve received that has helped you navigate the challenges of this industry?

YES, don’t quit, and don’t take it personally. That simple.

9. Looking forward, are there any roles or projects that you’re particularly excited about or would love to tackle in the future? What can fans look forward to seeing from you next?

Future projects? I don’t have any on my radar right now, but I invite any good ones that need someone like me on board to hire away! Haha As far as what fans can see next … that is a mystery for now as I don’t have anything in the waiting in the wings. I podcast though (Give A Shift) and work with a writing partner. We have something we’re cooking up. So, stay tuned!
