Description: In the small Northern Ontario town of Brokenbridge, 11-year-old River meets a mysterious teenage girl named Saylor, who initially claims to be his age. Together, they discover a doll that inexplicably comes to life as a baby they name Dottie. When Dottie disappears, they encounter a supernatural entity known as the Dark Mother, a force that has long plagued the town. With the help of some older teens, River and Saylor face off against this evil presence. Throughout their journey, River learns that Saylor is actually 16 years old and running away from an abusive home. After defeating the Dark Mother, River helps Saylor by reporting her situation to social services. Though this means she will be sent to foster care far away, they share a bittersweet farewell as Saylor finally escapes her traumatic past.
