Story: A warm, tender and funny story about unlikely friendships, second chances, and the magic of soul music. Dinah has always lived in Scarborough. Trapped with her feckless husband and useless son, her one release comes at her town’s Northern Soul nights, where she gets to put on her best and lose herself in the classics. Dinah has an especial hero: Bucky Bronco, who recorded a string of soul gems in the late Sixties and then vanished off the face of the earth. When she manages to contact Bucky she can’t believe her luck. Over in Chicago, Bucky Bronco is down on his luck – and has been since the loss of his beloved wife Maybelle. The best he can hope for is to make ends meet, and try and stay high. But then an unexpected invitation arrives, from someone he’s never met, to come to somewhere he’s never heard of. With nothing to lose – and in need of the cash – Bucky boards a plane. And so Bucky finds himself in rainy Scarborough, where everyone seems to know who is – preparing to play for an audience for the first time in nearly half a century. Over the course of the week, he finds himself striking up new and unexpected friendships; and facing his past, and its losses, for the very first time.

The Warmth of Soul in ‘Rare Singles’

Tucked away in Sheffield at the infamous Old Workshop, the team at CLASS 5 are hard at work on the development of a new stunning production. Titled ‘Rare Singles’, this is a wholesome, humorous and poignant narration foregrounding unexpected bondings, life’s second innings and the captivating charm of Soul music. Scripted by Ben Myers, this promising project is being produced by Nickie Sault and Ally Gipps, supported by Warner Music Entertainment.

The Magnetism of Northern Soul Nights

Our protagonist, Dinah, is a resident of Scarborough, whose world seems confined by her couped-up life. Her only escape is the Northern Soul nights in her town where she transports herself into the compelling universe of music. Dinah is enchanted by the enigmatic entity of Bucky Bronco, the Sixties sensation who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

The Unanticipated Union

Unbeknownst to Dinah, her hero Bucky Bronco is enduring tough times in the alleys of Chicago, numbing the pain of losing his adored wife Maybelle. His monotonous life receives an unexpected turn with a surprising call from the unspoken admirer across the ocean. With an unfamiliar destination and a desperate need for a change, Bucky steps onto the flight of destiny.

Bucky’s Renaissance

Despite the stark contrast of the cloudy Scarborough, Bucky finds euphoria as the long-lost celebrity of the town. The stage beckons him for the first live performance in almost fifty years. Through the week, he treads onto a path of forming new friendships, grappling with his troubled past and embracing the unforeseen second chance at life.
