Description: Frustrated by the lack of financial resources for her middle-class family to call on for her college pre-med education, Lauren decides to follow in her mother Julie’s footsteps and become a contestant in a teen beauty pageant. Lauren is shocked by the cruelty and backstabbing amid the contestants and even from the choreographer, but she shrugs that off as just something she, as a newcomer to the circuit, has to deal with. However, when Lauren discovers that the director of the Starlight pageant is turning a blind eye to the sexual misconduct perpetrated by some staff members and at least one judge, Lauren knows she has to take a stand.
