Many homeowners try and recreate a movie-going experience by hanging cheesy décor—think popcorn buckets, movie reels, and film strip decorations plucked directly from the Hobby Lobby self. But you don’t see that stuff in a real theater lobby so why would you decorate your home theater with it?

When it comes to decorating a media room, nothing puts the theater in “home theater” like a light box frame does.

Poster Preservation

If you’re a movie poster collector like me that wants to put their collection on display, then preservation is likely a top concern. For this, many turn to light box frames for a safe and easy way to give their media rooms some cinematic flare—and who could blame them? When it comes to authenticity and displaying a poster the way it’s meant to be seen, there’s no better option than this.

Light box frames gives you just the look that we’ve become so accustomed to seeing—that familiar illuminated glow of a backlit full-size poster in theaters. So much so in fact, that they don’t look right in a standard frame. With so many benefits, one is left to wonder if there are any drawbacks when it comes to preservation. Framing

As far as the framing process is concerned, there is little need to worry about damaging your poster when putting it in or taking it out of the light box frame. Baroque has done some impressive engineering on their frames making it quick and simple to swap posters. Thanks to the front opening design the whole operation is done rather quickly which means you can keep your favorite posters on regular rotation with no hassle at all.

Lighting

Certainly, some may be concerned that LED lights may fade or damage your poster. There’s no need to worry though. According to LED Lighting Info LEDs don’t have the same damaging effects of sunlight. Additionally, the LED diffusers used by Baroque Portfolios on all of their frames help to evenly distribute the backlight for a safer lighting experience.

Moreover, your double-sided one sheet poster was made explicitly to be displayed with a backlight. In fact, that’s why you find the reverse image on the back rather than a blank white side. It really helps the color pop when both sides of a poster are printed!

Installation

Installing the light box frame really couldn’t be easier. If you’ve ever hung a picture frame, then you can install this. It comes pre-assembled, so all you have to do is plug it in and mount it. Adding and swapping posters is a breeze as well. All you need to do is pop open the four front hinges on each side, remove the acrylic glazing, insert your poster, and reverse the process to close it all back up.

Final Thoughts

Baroque Portfolios is unsurprisingly known for their portfolios, but they have shown that they can excel in more areas than one.

Overall, their LED light box frame is an impressive product. Getting it set up was a breeze. With just about 15 minutes of setup time from start to finish, you can transform the look of any room.

After initial installation, swapping posters takes considerably less time and is not so labor intensive that you will feel dissuaded from doing so. In fact, you’ll probably have a lot of fun seeing all of your posters backlit (how they were meant to be seen).

Of course, additional consideration must always be taken when framing signed posters. It should be noted that this frame does not keep posters pressed against the acrylic glass which might cause problems for autographs. So concerns about ink sticking to the acrylic shouldn’t be a deterrent from displaying your cherished collectibles.

As for cons, there are a few. I did find the edges of the front-opening sides to be a little sharp so you should exercise caution when installing your posters so as to avoid damage. Additionally, when viewed from the side, there were some visible gaps where the LED light could be seen.

All in all, I’m highly satisfied with the product and would consider getting a second one to display posters side by side.
