Dear Community Members of NY-14,
We wanted to share several important updates below on Hurricane Ida relief for undocumented folks, Service Academy Day, and Emergency Rental Assistance.
First, Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today that $27 million is available for undocumented survivors of the storms and flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. This funding will be distributed through grants to community organizations and provided to New Yorkers who are not eligible to receive storm recovery assistance through the FEMA Individual Assistance Program or other means. The program is now open. Call the ONA Hotline at 1-800-566-7636 for help on where to apply.
On Saturday, October 2nd, at 12:00 pm ET, the Office of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is holding a Joint Service Academy Day with the Office of Congresswoman Grace Meng. This event is for high school students, families, and anyone interested in learning about admittance into the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Coast Guard Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Representatives from each Academy present and students will be able to ask questions during this event. High school students interested in a Service Academy Nomination by our office are encouraged to attend. RSVP here.
Help is available for landlords and tenants across the city through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Apply here.
